Hi, linux lite user here. Recently my mouse has been bugging me. I mean it is getting disconnected at random times during the day  :banghead. This is a new problem because a few weeks ago it was working just fine. The problem arose when i disconnected the mouse manually from the 'mouse and touchpad' app. I then renabled the mouse with xinput. Since then it keeps getting disconnected; I checked the ports, they were fine. Also it seems like the mouse has been programmed to disconnect at session startup hrug. So every time i boot the computer i have to renable the mouse.

I am using LinuxLite V5 and I am trying to clone one repository from git using npm V8.3.0 but it throws this exception:

    fatal: could not create leading directories of '/root/.npm/_cacache/tmp/git-clone7tt2X1': Permission denied

I try all of these commands but no progress!!!

    npm i -g https://github.com/nextcloud/strengthify

    npm i https://github.com/nextcloud/strengthify

    sudo npm i -g https://github.com/nextcloud/strengthify

    sudo npm i https://github.com/nextcloud/strengthify

I also run all of these commands in sudo su mode but there was not any progress.

I also checked folder owner and group and permissions. it is the result:

How can I solve this problem?

I have been looking how to have each directory to have its own view settings (as in Windows Explorer).

One thread in Reddit says: "This feature is available in 4.16"

So, I found that version and downloaded it.  But, before I installed it, I checked the version currently running.  It tells me it is 1.8.14.

I then decided to look for a release map and found this:

Is the version in Linux Lite (and other distros) really 3 releases behind the current, or is some other numbering scheme running to reflect something else?

I recently switched from Q4OS to Linux Lite, while in Q4OS the fan would turn off when doing nothing and go fast when doing something intensive, in Linux Lite, the fan is always at medium speed, how do i fix this

Well ok... I did program on 3.8 for a long time... but ok some things got older and using wine... a windows compiler that works ok got a bit bad... meaning not very ok... so going to 5.6.... install was ok... chrome sync... ok... but after some half an hour or so all passwords of all connections were gone... well when giving your password one could see the name and pass one by one... ok... not that good... it is impossible to fill those all in... I had a file with the passwords... but it isn't doable to import them in Chrome... ok... my wine... looks nice think 5.0 or something... but impossible to use... starting a program is ok... ending it is not possible... the same screen of the program comes back and back and ending it is not possible... only a ctrl/alt/del and a return and you can start again... so Wine is impossible... pity I love Lite and wanted to go on... got back to 3.8 it is still a very good friend... getting a bit too old but ok... is working

Try pressing the print screen key without the ctrl or alt key.  It should open a utility called Screenshot which leads through a screen or window capture to a file. Or try opening Screenshot from the menu - probably under accessories.

Anyone else having a problem replying to some posts ?  Specifically posts with an apostrophe character in the subject line don't seem to open but just link back to the forum section listing.
