Hello everyone.
Just wanted to say that I decided to cut the Windows cord permanently about six months ago. I have tried many different distros since then. I liked some of them, liked some of them a lot, and liked others not so much. But, when I finally tried LL, I knew that I had found my new home.
Thanks Jerry and Team for doing such an awesome job!! ;D

Hello,
New Lite user here ... wondering if anyone knows how to setup keyboard shortcuts to control the sound volume - Up, Down, Mute?
I am running Lite 3.8 (32-bit) on an older Sony VAIO laptop. VGN FS-790 with a Intel Pentium M CPU-2Ghz, 2GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 6400 video card.
Is there a place in the settings somewhere to set that up ?
Thanks,
Dennis

USB 2.0 connectivity exceeding the theoretical limit of 35 MB/s - how come?

The other day, I backed-up data on my Dell Latitude D630 (an LL3.8 setup), transferring files of various sizes from the laptop's internal drive to an external drive (both SSDs: 1TB Samsung 850 Evo). While doing this, I was surprised to see transfer speeds apparently exceeding the theoretical limit of 35MB/s for USB 2.0 connectivity, according to the onscreen File Operation Progress notification - see link at https://imgur.com/a/mn8QvLs
Several times, peak transfer rates hit around 60 to 70 MB/s, though most of the time hovered between 25 to 35 MB/s. I was unable to find any references on the web regarding overshoot in USB 2.0 connectivity speeds.

Speaking of reading books, there is something to it - which I believe applies samewise to coding - which hypothetically helps to structure human field of thought, perhaps through experience of linear pattern of meaning. What, in turn, should be psychosis? It is an experience of non-linear patterns of meaning. Do not get me wrong. The purpose of human mind is not to remain on a linear, grammatical level. It is to transcend it, in a controlled manner, having what is linear as a springboard. Either how, what kinds of books do you like?
Personally, I am convinced that some point in life, one has to get a grasp of how the grand universe works, according to the consensus belief. We all have our microcosms, but it is then the wheels start to spin when the big catches the grip with the small, thus the movement of one, fuels the movement of the other, while if they both move in the same direction, synergy emerges, shaping something bigger.
To the point, what books do I talk about? Popular science. Titles? No. Maybe writers. Do not head to Stephen Hawking, he was a great mind - hell, he still is, like Elvis - but overrated writer. Unfortunately, popular science books do get outdated, so mind the edition.

I have installed 3.8 on my low spec Asus eee 1005HA because I read it was the best choice for such a machine. Installation went well but the standard keyboard (not extended) produces rubbish. Have selected various UK keyboard options - so many! - no improvement; turning off Number Lock bios offers no option on this. No matter what I do still rubbish. Characters appearing no relevance to the letters on the keys. As is it is unusable. Help appreciated or I'm afraid LL will have to be dumped. Have also turned number lock off using Fn key. No improvement.

User-Admin no option to save session

I have set up a second user a/c, first time I've tried this.
The problem is the log-out window for the Admin user does not offer option to save session, but closes whatever apps are running. The new user gives this option and does keep the app (browser in this case) open for next login.
I have gone to Session and Start-up, from Admin user, and selected Automatically Save Session on logout , and Prompt on logout.
Also Lite Tweaks I have enabled save sessions for all users. Also Login and logout power Options: Logout screen shows all options for all users.

Trouble connecting to Hotspot WiFi

I posted an issue with this laptop and WiFi in "other" under the heading "Laptop running LL 3.8 acting unusually". I believe I have narrowed things down a bit. The youth who was using it found that he started to have issues with it connecting to the internet which would always have been via a WiFi hotspot from his phone AND more recently from my WiFi hotspot (which is a ZTE model #: MF920V which connects to 2G/3G/4G LTE mobile networks). At that original time of posting I had assumed it was with all WiFi connections, however once I took it home and checked it out further I realized it was just with this hotspot (which uses a data SIM card). I wondered at first if it was connected to the SIM, however my other dinosaur laptops have no issue connecting to this hotspot & SIM.
RESULTS of inxi -n command connected when connect to and using my home router to which this laptop recognizes and connects without problem:
administrator@administrator-Inspiron-1720:~$ inxi -n
Network: Card-1: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX driver: b44
IF: eth0 state: down mac: 00:1c:23:a3:4c:d6
Card-2: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n driver: wl
IF: wlp12s0 state: up mac: 00:1c:26:ac:e9:c1
When I disconnect from the home router and connect to my hot spot today it is now "seeing" and connecting to the WiFi, however when I try to pull up a page such as facebook in the lower left corner of the page where you usually see the searching process/connecting process going on (goes through various things like "waiting for...","performing handshake...", "transferring..." NONE of this occurs and after a short period I get a message saying "Server not found".
I put in the inxi -n command again when connected to my hotspot and it looks like I am getting the same output(maybe this is expected, but since I am a newbie I wasn't sure if maybe it'd be different depending on the WiFi being used...):
administrator@administrator-Inspiron-1720:~$ inxi -n
Network: Card-1: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX driver: b44
IF: eth0 state: down mac: 00:1c:23:a3:4c:d6
Card-2: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n driver: wl
IF: wlp12s0 state: up mac: 00:1c:26:ac:e9:c1
I'm unsure what other information I should be getting and providing. While I have another laptop ready for this youth to use I would like to be able to make this one work so that he or another youth can access the internet via their phone hotspot.
Might anyone have suggestions about what is going on or what other information I should be providing?
