I've two suggestions: One, which concerns especially the live CD of Linux Lite, and another one, which concerns every Linux Live-CD.

Situation

I'm using a PC with 2 hard drives:

• an internal drive, build-in, primary drive, commonly addressed as [tt]/dev/sda[/tt];
  
• an external drive, connected via usb, commonly addressed as [tt]/dev/sdb[/tt].

I have a script, called logs, that prints log information inside an lxterminal window.

From inside lxterminal I can start it like this: logs &

It fills the screen with new data each minute, and I can also type quick commands which return information. For example ls or df.

All this works fine when I type the command, but I want a bash script to open an lxterminal and have logs start running in the background with the capability to type commands in as needed.

This bash script line will run, but not in the background: lxterminal -e 'bash -c "~/scripts/logs"'

I thought I could us "&" to get it to run in background, but it doesn't work.
This line doesn't run at all: lxterminal -e 'bash -c "~/scripts/logs"' &

I'm using this to open multiple terminal windows, and I want this one lxterminal window to start it's job in the background so commands can be entered.

Any ideas?

Whilst removing a mod today, it affected the rest of the Forum. This was unforeseen but thankfully we have daily backups.
There will be a few posts lost and I apologise for this. Forum mod removals are pretty standard to perform but this one turned on us in a bad way.

I'm relatively new to Linux and I would like to learn more about it. I've been using Linux lite since February of this year and haven't really dug into it. I use it almost entirely for gaming, and if I have a problem i just avoid it as much as i can. To be honest I'm very intimidated. Does anyone have any advice on where to start learning? So I decided to do an update but didn't pay attention to how much space I have left...  The issue happens when I try to log into my account I get this http://imgur.com/a/oifx9

I'm using linux lite 2.6x on VMware. I've went into the recovery menu and ran the clean option, but that didn't solve the issue. In the recovery menu I can't seem to use root... It's asking for give root password for maintenance, which I have no clue what it is. I also tried to use a USB stick to see if I can boot up from the USB and clear some files but... It's not recognizing the type of USB I created. I could still potentially play around with this until I find the right application for making my bootable linux lite USB.

If I can get any help on this it is greatly appreciated!

Last night I was updating windows 7 on one of my three desktops.

Earlier in the day I picked up a second hand 500g wd hdd for a few pounds so decided to install LL3.0 on it on another machine.

Formatted the drive installed LL 3.0 and updated.

A trouble free install as usual.

Linuxlite all done in less than an hour...........Up and running.

I'm unable to copy and paste files to folders - the 'paste' button is greyed out. How can I reset this.

Does anyone know how to enlarge the size of the icons on the panel's window buttons? I find them too small, and spend a lot of time straining to read them. If I widen the panel it automatically jumps to two rows, leaving the icons and text (which is also pretty small) unchanged.
