  Shutdown kinda slow
Posted by: T1125P - 07-20-2016, 08:21 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (3)

Hi all, I recently reinstalled LL 1.0.6 on my netbook. Now for some reason the shutdown seems a bit slower even though I'm using an SSD drive. I read that you can use the terminal to shut down almost instanly using:  sudo poweroff -f  This is a forced shutdown but I want to know is this safe to use over time?
Also is it possible to make this a script and add it to the menu where it says logoff? I would love to just have a shutdown button there Smile

Thanks.

Install on an EEE PC 1015N
Posted by: Abw - 07-20-2016, 01:27 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (1)

Hi,
I've installed many distros in this EEE PC 1015N without a hitch. But I wanted to speed up this little lappy and decided to try linux lite which works great in a virtualbox. But installing and then reinstalling results in exactly the same issues:
By default the install turns on num lock, so half the keyboard is off until the numlock is turned off, and sudo does not accept the assigned password. (wrong password, try again) So if anyone has an EEE PC try it and let me know. Otherwise I'll have to continue looking at other distros..

  Cleaning software
Posted by: BarryVG - 07-19-2016, 09:00 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (12)

Greetings,

Looking for any comments to this.

I was browsing through Softpedia web site and a page came up for BleachBit - a cleaning software for Linux systems.  Anyone have any experience with this item.  I don't plan to put this on my Linux Lite systems, since there is already Lite Tweaks.

I also run Mint, Debian, Ultimate Edition (several versions) and a couple others.

Posted by: pense-malin - 07-19-2016, 02:14 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (10)

Hi! My name is Paul aka pense-malin. I started with Linux about 10 years ago with Debian.  I have tried after Fedora, Open Suse, Ubuntu, PCLinusOs and many other smaller ditros.  Right now I am with Linux Mint 18.  I am looking for a smaller distro with speed and stability and ready to used out of the box.

Chinese Chewing Input - Black box appears
Posted by: chrisshyi13 - 07-19-2016, 01:21 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (9)

Hey guys,

So I've been trying to install Chinese input on my Linux Lite machine. I was able to install it through fcitx but this huge black box appears below where I'm typing. Can anyone shed some light on the issue?

This is my first time on the forum so I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place to post this.
