I have a HP stream 11 notebook that I want to install Linux lite 2.8
its spec is ---
Processor --- Intel® Celeron® N3050 with Intel® HD Graphics
(1.6 GHz, up to 2.16 GHz, 2 MB cache, 2 cores)
Memory --- 2 GB DDR3L SDRAM (onboard)
Storage --- Internal drive --- 32 GB eMMC
SD card --- 32GB
It has Windows 10 - 64bit pre installed . I am considering replacing Windows 10 with Lite 2.8 .
Which would the best version for me 32bit or 64 bit . I assume the UEFI version is not yet available but is it likely to be released soon

I installed Linux Lite yesterday and i must say this is the best Linux OS with the xfce desktop. It is low in memory, have an very good hardware support and works great.

| Better Monitor Setup |

It would be really nice to have a better "Monitor Setup" so one can use custom resolutions. Dual Screen Setups should get saved to disk, so one does not have to set them every time he/she boots up.
The possibility to even install legacy drivers would also be nice, because i really feel that i am not alone in linux-land with an old computer and an old video card. There may be many more people,
who have an old video-card like the "ATI Radeon 9600" that somehow got kicked out of support from the most recent proprietary fglrx drivers.
And it seems to be a very hackish way to install that legacy driver by hand(by fooling around with dependencies and things a normal human beeing hasnt got a clue about)
...I guess that is not the philosophy of Linux Lite.
Since we dont surf the web with lynx anymore, the possibilty to set up Monitors correctly and according to the wishes of their owners seems very essential for me to gain a widespread "fanbase" for Linux Lite.

to me it looks like Linux Lite lacks the ability to save preferences of a dual monitor setup...
I have an old Radeon 9600, and i guess community drivers are installed. I can set up my monitors now pretty fine, since i exchanged one of them to a more standard device, but every time I boot up again, it seems that X has forgot what settings i already have done.
should i try to delete a formerly created Xorg.conf?
I created one before, because like I already mentioned; I tried to set up another monitor which is now in screwdriver heaven and for this old monitor i tried to create an xorg.conf because the max. resolution of that device didnt show up in "Monitor Settings"... I had to play the Xrandr game everytime...
Could somebody please help me? Or create a non-terminal solution which really saves monitor settings and also makes custom resolutions available that are within the bounds of technical possibility?

Hi
I am another one having a problem getting updates. I have tried running updates automatically and get the error, "Couldn't fetch the package cache information lists"
I have run sudo apt-get update in the terminal, it appears to work but the following text appears at the end;
W: Failed to fetch http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/di...le/Release Unable to find expected entry 'main/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Does this mean most of the updates have installed, or did the update process fail, and of course how to fix it? :-)
Thanks

I am sorry, this is probably silly, but I am completely new to Linux. I am running Lite 2.8, and I accidentally disabled my WiFi connection. After rebooting, it still doesn't show up in the networks panel (lower right on the screen). How can I re-enable it?

I am receiving this error when I update: 3a5.1.1~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty0_amd64.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/liblibreofficekitgtk.so', which is also in package libreoffice-core 1:5.0.1~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty1
Should I reinstall Libreoffice?
