My Main Laptop: Dell Inspiron M5110
(Note: My specs on this Dell Laptop is very, very similar to Spatry's Laptop Specs, nearly identical.)
![[Image: 303956.jpg]](http://www.ferra.ru/images/303/303956.jpg)
Yes, my laptop is one of those that has some useless switchable back covers behind the screen. I've never bought any covers and don't plan to because I simply don't care. I use the stock one that came with the laptop. The factory box describes my back cover colour as "Diamond Black". (Doesn't look as good as it sounds, to be honest, but still a good laptop overall.)
Processor: AMD A8-3500M Quad-Core APU @ 1.5 Ghz (2.4 Ghz Turbo Boost)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6620G & AMD Radeon HD 6470M
Hard Drive: Western Digital Blue 500GB
RAM: 6 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Memory (2 of 2 RAM Slots Used) (Originally had 4 GB Stock) (8 GB Max)
Wireless LAN: Broadcom BCM4313 a/b/g/n Single Band (2.4 Ghz) with Bluetooth 3.0 - A LINUX PROBLEM WIFI CARD! DO NOT GET! [As I found out].
LAN: Realtek Ethernet Card
Display: 1366x768 Resolution, 15.6 Inch LED Panel
Operating System: Arch Linux 64-Bit with KDE. - This will be replaced with LL in a few weeks.
My Travel Laptop: HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11
(Exact Model is: HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11-e015dx)
![[Image: 711nkIzaSFL._SL1500_.jpg]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/711nkIzaSFL._SL1500_.jpg)
Laptop that I use when I'm out and about. Has decent run time of about 6 hours on battery, and about 4 hours on full brightness. 11.6 inch 10-Point Touchscreen display.
Processor: AMD A6-1450 Quad-Core APU @ 1.0 Ghz (1.4 Ghz Turbo Boost)
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 8250
Hard Drive: HGST TravelStar 500GB
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Memory (1 of 1 RAM Slots Used) (8GB Max)
Wireless LAN: Qualcomm Atheros a/b/g/n Dual-Band (2.4 and 5 Ghz) with Bluetooth 4.0 - A very good choice with Linux
LAN: Realtek Ethernet Card
Display: 1366x768 Resolution, 11.6 Inch LED Panel, Amtel MaXTouch Touch Digitizer with 10 Touch Points (Yes, This is a Touchscreen Laptop)
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Update 1 64-Bit dual-booted with Linux Lite 2.6
My Desktop: Dell Dimension 5100C
This is my spare machine I use for testing all kinds of Linux distros and previews of Windows. A quick machine considering its age. Also used occasionally as a background music machine for my job live-streaming commercial-free Icecast / Shoutcast radio streams. Has a S/PDIF (Optical) 5.1 Surround Audio output used on a Harman/Kardon A/V Receiver. Creates static free and crisp high quality sound!
It has a gear-operated door cover that covers the DVD Drive, Floppy Drive (or optional 9 in 1 Media Card Reader for SD Cards, Memory Stick, CompactFlash, etc.), 3.5 mm Audio Jacks, Firewire 400, and 2 USB 2.0 Ports. This is with it open.

Door cover closed.

Neat feature!
Processor: Intel Pentium D Dual-Core @ 2.8 Ghz (No HyperThreading)
Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Intel 945G Chipset) - Very good with Linux, present on alot of older Intel Atoms from the netbook craze era.
Hard Drive: Western Digital Blue 80GB
Other Storage: 3.5inch TEAC Floppy Drive - Not shown in above pictures.
RAM: 2.0 GB DDR2 667 Mhz Memory (3 of 4 RAM Slots Used) (4GB Max)
Wireless LAN: No Wireless Card Installed
LAN: Intel Ethernet Card
Display: 1440x900 HP 1907w Desktop Monitor with rear-facing stereo speakers
Operating System: My Machine For Distro-Hopping or Testing OS's. All kinds of things go in this field.
July 11th, 2014 - I took a 512 MB RAM stick out on the Dell Dimension because it had failed. It had a rather serious problem where that particular RAM stick prevented ANY and ALL Linux Distros from installing or in some cases, even booting, on it, every single time [Kernel Panics]. Even Windows 7 and 8 would fail right in the middle of the installation process (Blue Screen Of Death) every single time. Who knew a RAM stick could cause so much trouble.

Hello All,
I want to connect my phone natively to LL if possible, rather than the AirDroid route.
I have followed various items on LL forum and else where on the web.
When I plug in the phone it imeadiately gets recognised "Samsung Android", and I can double click to mount it... BUT
All the folders are "owned by root" , looks like a "permissions issue.?? See picture below.
Lot's of googling do not give me any pointers to this... Some comments/observations.
I checked/enabled Groups: Audio , plugdev , fuse
It does not seem to be mounted in the usual: /media or /mnt .?? in the address bar is: mtp://[usb:002,004]/phone/
The file: /lib/udev/rules.d/69-mtp.rules , looks to be correct from all examples found
Code: ATTR{idVendor}=="04e8", ATTR{idProduct}=="6860", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", TAG+="uaccess"
The found references to a: /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android.rule configuration file, I do not have this, but it maybe for Android development.
I found a reference to edit fuse.conf to remove # from before the: #user_allow_other
Code: #/etc/fuse.conf - Configuration file for Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE)
#Set the maximum number of FUSE mounts allowed to non-root users.
#The default is 1000.
#mount_max = 1000
# Allow non-root users to specify the allow_other or allow_root mount options.
user_allow_other
Finally:
Code: dave@hp-lappy1:~$ sudo dmesg | tail
[ 788.411732] cdc_acm 2-1:1.1: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
[ 998.363004] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, device number 5

[ 1029.739716] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

[ 1029.739738] usb 2-2: SerialNumber: 23c3f76c

[ 1029.741190] cdc_acm 2-2:1.1: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
Any ideas/comments welcome.

Hi all, been a avid fan of LL for a long time, and after much frustration with other distro's once again l find myself installing LL great to see it has come on leaps and bounds since l last ran LL.
Love the out of the box experience, the no nonsense approach to software install and updates.
I no longer have the time to tweak a OS and l really need it to work out of the box, insteps LL, covers all my needs and keeps me away from W10.
Most of the games that l play within the W10 environment are now covered within Linux, be it Minecraft (ye l know, a man of my age!), Warthunder or WoT.
Running stable on my main PC and also my Media laptop with Linux 3.13.0-62-generic, (Kernel 4.2 did not like Nvidia on the Acer Aspire), looking to push it onto my mobile laptop when l get time.
Great work.
Regards
C.

Hi
Brand new to this.
Finally installed Linux Lite onto spare machine to use as a backup for other PCS and maybe a server.
I have my main machine and the linux lite machine feeding to one monitor through a vga switch. since installing linux lite when I switch to my main PC and then back to the linux lite machine I have no display. This wasnt the case when I ran Windows on the old machine.
Can anyone give me a fix?
Cheers

Ive two iMacs. The newer one is easy to set up wifi under Liteos (has hidden wifi option) but Liteos on my older imac doesn't have this setting.
I just thought its probably older wifi so doesn't get detected...but if I run LXLE on the older iMac the hidden wifi option appears...and sets it up easily.
Can I find out what apts or extras are in LXLE that I can install in Liteos to make this work?

It is a great distro, but it is unfortunate that the system installation is done in English and even after changing it to Portuguese, half the going gets English and the other half in Portuguese.
Other distros (Mint / Ubuntu) translate perfectly to the Portuguese.
* I've done the tutorial, but was not very successful. Translation is incomplete.
Sorry for English.

| Wine uninstall problems with Evernote |

Evernote was working OK through Wine . For some reason it will not now allow me to edit text (no Cursor)
I used the Wine uninstall to remove Evernote to do a clean install .
When I try to reinstall Evernote I get a message that--- another User has it installed and I need to remove it First. --There is no evidence that I can find and I am the only user.
I have tried removing Wine using Lite Software and reinstalling it with no change and my Memory-Map program still works without reinstalling
Using Synaptic and doing a Complete removal of all Wine components removes Memory-Map but I still cannot install Evernote because it still thinks its installed .
I have installed NixNote 2 which is OK except it cannot Decrypt my Encrypted files so I need to reinstall Evernote to Decrypt them first.
I even tried removing Evernote from Windows registry
