No grub boot screen on startup

Hello again Jerry
I installed LL on a machine that also has windows 10 on it.
They are on separate SSD's.
Windows was already installed and then I installed LL from USB.
LL did not recognize any other OS's and so I picked "something else" from the install drive selection.
I had already formatted the drive with a boot partition, a home partition, and a swap partition.
I designated them as such for the install with grub to install at the first boot partition.
All went well, but I am not getting a grub screen at startup. I have to enter the bios boot screen and select which system to boot.
The windows drive is set as default in the bios.
I then re-installed. This time LL found windows and so I selected "erase the drive" as my install option.
LL installed and designated the windows SSD as the location for grub.
Finished the install, but this time there is no way to boot LL at all. No selection in the bios boot screen will activate LL.
Windows was untouched and boots as normal.
I installed a 3rd time, and LL did not find windows. So, I went through the first scenario again. And again, I can boot either OS but only by getting into the bios boot selector and designating the appropriate boot option.
When I have installed other linux distros on the same machine, if I select "erase the drive", it automatically handles the grub install properly, and when I reboot I have a grub screen to select either windows or linux. Not so with LL.
So, I do want to keep running LL, but I would like to be able to simplify the boot selection at startup.
Is there a way to correct this?
Thanks and I do love Linux Lite.
Len

Introducing the Linux Lite Control Center.

This is the culmination of months of work by a number of Linux Lite developers both inside and outside the project.
Before I begin, I'd like to personally thank the following people for their fantastic efforts in bringing this original concept to a finished state:
John 'Shaggytwodope' Jenkins - original GUI design and coding
Brian 'DarthLukan' Tomlinson - Python Developer extraordinaire
Milos 'Misko_2083' Pavlovic - Linux Lite Developer
Jerry Bezencon - Linux Lite Developer
Josh Erickson - Developer
Each of these people played a crucial role in the Control Centers development. It could not progress the way it did without any of them, so thank you
The original idea was to have one central place where people could configure just about anything on Linux Lite. The Linux Lite equivalent of the Windows Control Panel if you like, but better We want people to rely on one area in the OS where they could find things. The Lite Control Center aims to fulfill that.
Features
System Information:
On the main tab, we have basic system information, OS, cpu, ram, kernel, graphics and soundcard information (we have yet to test multiple sound or video card configurations)
We also include a Screenshot button. This will take a picture of the Lite Control Center System Information tab (only), upload it to imgur.com for pasting of the url into the Forums. When you need support, we have a snaphot of your systems key hardware configuration quickly and easily.

Desktop:
Anything to do with configuring your Desktop should be here. We've also added the ability to add and remove Computer, Home, Network and Trash icons to the Desktop.

Software:
A one-stop-shop for all your software management needs.

Hardware:
A one-stop-shop for all your hardware configuration needs.

Network:
Network configuration and management.

System:
Configuration of everything system related on default Linux Lite.

The Lite Control Center is for Linux Lite 2.4+ only and we hope to have it ready for Linux Lite 2.6. It is not tested, nor will it be supported on anything lower than Linux Lite 2.4
The Lite Control Center does not add program icons to the Lite Control Center as you install applications. The only buttons displayed are the ones we provide on a vanilla Linux Lite install.
Once installed, you can find Lite Control Center in Menu, Settings, Lite Control Center.

We'd like as many people as possible to install and test this with us. To install the Lite Control Center:
Code: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install lite-controlcenter
This software should be considered beta quality and although it has gone through numerous tests, we need to widen our test field to ensure the best possible quality at release time.
Of course we welcome your feedback and any features you'd like added
From the entire development team, thank you

This is probably not a Linux Light problem though I thought I would throw it out in case somebody could help.
On chromium based browsers such as opera or Google Chrome, hulu and some lectures I have to watch, crash and completely shut off the computer approx thirty minutes into viewing. I must maintain two adobe brands as Firefox uses 11.2.202.468 and Google and Opera use adobe 18. This does not happen on Firefox only on the Chromium based browsers. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas how to fix this.

Firefox has stated they have an upgrade from 38 to 39 but on Linux Light we cannot upgrade till the developers add it to the software package manager. When were you planning to do that?

[Solved] Again on grub and Linux Lite

On my laptop with a number of Linux distributions. LL installed last, so it loads first and only in that case it detects grub2. When downloaded some still operating after LL, then run it was impossible, though Start LL attended. This, after all, wrote in forum.
But even without installing a new system in other operating systems updates changed settings and to update grub access to LL simply reinstalling it.
He has leadership with 2 grub and understand that it is possible in / etc / default / grub in a row DEFAULT insert name of the operating system for priority loading
instead of numbers.
Will this work? And if so, what kind of name should fit?
I looked in there /boot/grub/grub.cfg something
'Description: Linux Lite 2.4 GNU / Linux' --class description_ --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $ menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-simple-ece57eb7-9bac-4cad-93a0-f2f3d6db2f7f' {
But perhaps there are other ways to solve the problem?
Thanks.

Is there a way of searching text or phrases within Word/LibreOffice or PDF files using Catfish? If not, can anybody suggest a suitable alternative? I know a grep Command can be used in Terminal but it looks way over my head - would prefer something graphical if available.
Thanks in advance.

LL install freezes halfway through the install...

I’ve got a situation that I don’t understand…
When I try to install LL using a known good DVD (md5 checksum verified) my machine will freeze up during the install. The funny thing is I have used the same DVD to make other installs without any problems, not sure why this particular machine doesn’t like it.
So then I tried using a disk that I installed LL on from another machine, was curious just to see what it would do. It boots up fine but then also hangs after a few minutes of use. Ok ok, I know not to use an install from a different machine, I just was curious to see if LL would boot up.
I guess I’ll make a USB stick and see if that will allow me to install LL. But besides putting together a USB install stick, are there any other things I can check out ??
Anyone have any ideas on this problem ??
Thanks,
Glin22
