Major problem with VPN connection after last update.
Posted by: fluhxl - 05-13-2025, 10:17 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a major issue with my VPN connection after the last Linux Lite update. Before the update, my VPN connection was stable and worked perfectly fine. Now, after the update, the VPN disconnects randomly every few minutes.
I've tried different VPN servers and protocols, but the issue persists. I've also checked my firewall settings and network configuration, but everything seems to be in order.
I'm using OpenVPN with the Network Manager plugin. I've also tried using the command line to connect to the VPN, but the issue remains the same.
Here's what I've tried so far:
* Restarting my computer and network devices.
* Reinstalling the OpenVPN client and Network Manager plugin.
* Checking my firewall settings.
* Trying different VPN servers and protocols.
* Using the command line to connect to the VPN.
I'm not sure what else to try. Has anyone else experienced this issue after the last update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!.

works in windows 10 but a fresh LL 7.4 install on dell latitude 3140 notebook (NOT a 2-in-1 model) shows to be an intel Alder Lake-N CNVi network controller. thankfully, the wired/eithernet works for short-term / trouble shooting purposes. don't know what 'terminal' reports to run or include here, please advise...meny grats!  Huh

Chromium Browser traffic in Ubuntu 24.04 goes through VPN v4freedom.com there is no Linux Lite 6.4.
How in Linux Lite 6.2 to route Chromium Browser traffic via VPN v4freedom.com?

Installing RDP app within Linux Lite LIVE
Posted by: Alan_Wilts - 05-06-2025, 01:15 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (2)

My son want to try Linux so I suggested he try Linux Lite Live off a memory stick. One thing he needs to try is accessing his work computer. Under Windows he uses RDP.

Looks like RDP is not pre-installed in Linux Lite.

Q1: Is it possible to install to a Linux Lite Live? (albeit just for that session)
Q2: What RDP app is recommended? (similar to Win RDP, reliable, easy to configure)

Many thanks

Samba Sharing Files and Folders vs Thunar?
Posted by: JimmyJim - 05-05-2025, 11:25 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (5)

Looking for guidance.

I have 2 linux lite 7.4 systems and I want to set up a shared folder -- anonymous no logins no passwords no security. Smb.conf is barebones and things work as far as this goes. Thunar grants access on the local system. And somehow I expect that from remote systems as well.

On the remote system, I access the share with Thunar and a popup says Authentication Required and I select Anonymous and the popup goes away and then nothing -- The popup goes away without leaving a clue -- no access, no error message and most importantly no access.

Can anyone help me on this path?

Thanks

Always a different theme when adding new user
Posted by: daveseid - 05-05-2025, 03:51 PM - Forum: Desktop Customization - Replies (4)

Hello,

I am quite new to Linux lite. My issue is that whenever I create a new user, the theme is completely different from the original Linux lite theme and I cannot seem to match it perfectly to the original.

Is there a way that I can set it to only have the original theme when creating another profile instead of the new theme below?
Does anyone know why this happens?

  Linux Lite Repository update
Posted by: Valtam - 05-05-2025, 09:41 AM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

The Linux Lite Repository has been reconfigured.

Some styling, less system resources. Overall performance and look should be better.

There is also an SSL option too now for people.

NON-SSL - http://repo.linuxliteos.com/

SSL - https://repo.linuxliteos.com/

When you run Updates from now on, it should automatically switch to https with no unexpected impact to your system.

  A.I. Page Update
Posted by: Valtam - 05-05-2025, 02:06 AM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

Just to let folks know, the existing A.I. Support page has been discontinued.

We are working on a new system that will have a paid business model. With ad blocking, it is becoming increasingly difficult to fund the project - we must look to other means. Around $5 - $15 per month for unlimited usage, including coding and scripting LLM's.

It will be cheaper than ChatGPT and will be extremely fast with between 40 - 100 tokens p/second.

Just an FYI for folks - https://gallery.linuxliteos.com/

Should be much much faster and easy to use. Just need to upload the 7.4 images.
