Swapping Hard Drives from Laptop to Laptop |

Well, I got itchy. I recieved my Dell E5500 from fedex. A good friend gave it to me.
It had XP on a slow 5400 rpm 120 gig sata hard drive. On my Compaq CQ57. I had installed Linux Lite
on a GPT Apple SSD drive. Info on it coming presently.
Only fix I needed for the swap is this dell has broadcom wireless. I followed my own tutorial I posted at LQ last year on dealing with this.
I hooked up to my hard line and followed my instructions here.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/...ess-35655/
Rebooted. Posting wirelessly here now on this

Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
302 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.327 FPS
299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.631 FPS
299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.639 FPS
299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.624 FPS
299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.636 FPS
Like I said and will reiterate now. The only tweak/fix I needed was
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
After checking at
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43
1st to make sure my chip was in the YES part of the column.

One Wish for Linux Lite 2.2 |

I only have one wish for the new Linux Lite 2.2 operating system. Would love to see the Ubuntu Software Center added as a new program. The existing Software Additions program and Synaptic program have limitations. Getting the Ubuntu Software Center would be an early Christmas present.

Help! Blue Screen Appears When Booting Up |

When booting up I'm getting a blue screen which says, "GNU Grub version 2.02~beta2-9". There are 4 options to choose from. At the bottom of screen it states, "Use up or down arrows to select which entry is highlighted. Press enter to boot the selected OS, 'e' to edit the commands before booting or 'c' for command line".
I selected the first option and hit "enter". It went to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the upper left corner. Couldn't get off the black screen, so I shutdown. Restarted and ran the two "memtest" options and passed both tests. I did not mess with the advanced option. Would appreciate your help to resolve this problem.

[SOLVED] Linux lite system requirements |

Linux Lite version 2.00. Somehow I do not think I am going to be able to install Linux Lite 2.00 (or maybe any of the older versions) as my system is not good enough. I run a Dell Optiplex GX 260. Win XP Pro OS. Processor is Pentium 4. 1.80 GHZ and the maximum RAM I have and can have is 2 Gigabyte. My Hard drive is a mere 20 Gigabytes and I have only the factory installed CDRom drive.
I have been trying unsucessfully, to get hold of an actual CD but it seems that there are none available, though I believe the older versions were originally all on CD, running at about 500MGB. Jerry has been very good to me and opened up a few avenues, but I am not happy that any of them are actually on the required CD. I think now, that version 1.0.8 might have met the need here, but am not sure. Have you more knowledgeable guys got an opinion based on what I have said about my system specs? Hope so. Regards Walt.

Our WYSIWYG editor for quick reply decided it didn't want to work anymore so we are using a new one that is now fully integrated into the Forums. Only thing that does not seem to be working is the WYSIWYG Editor in pm's and custom signatures, no biggie, you can use this resource for a full list of BBCODES
