A simple way to check MD5sum
Posted by: anon222 - 08-20-2014, 12:59 AM - Forum: Tutorials - Replies (26)

1. Open the Thunar file manager
2. Click on Edit and then on Configure custom actions
3. Add A new custom action by clicking on a '+' button
4. Enter this in the text boxes:
Name: Check MD5
Description: Computes MD5 checksum for the selected file.
Command:

Code:
zenity --info --title="Check MD5 for %n" --text="$(md5sum %f)"
Icon: You can skip this or choose your the icon of your choice. I've setup a calculator icon.
5. Click on Appearance Conditions tab
6. In the File pattern enter:
Code:
*.iso;*.ISO;*.img;*.IMG
7. Check all boxes except Directories and confirm by clicking on OK
If you have an .iso or .img file on the Desktop you will have to log out and back in to be able to use this.
Now you can right-click on .iso or .img file and Check MD5.

  Can't install software
Posted by: pelouk - 08-19-2014, 03:41 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (5)

I seem to be having the same difficulty as Tom47 described on this thread:-

https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=741.0

I was also trying to install Chrome and kept getting the following Error notice:

ERROR
"Chrome could not be installed."

I tried the Install/Remove Software work-around suggested by gold-finger on the same thread but Synaptic keeps kicking me out with this:

AN ERROR OCCURED.
The following details are provided

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same issues and resolved them.

Desktop - lost programs whilst active
Posted by: newtusmaximus - 08-19-2014, 01:57 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (3)

Newbie question - procedure.

Re Mozilla Thunderbird/Firefox.  Periodically after I have opened Thunderbird or Firefox on the screen , and then think that I have minimised these, but I can not find them  on the desktop bar at the bottom of the screen to maximise again.  When trying to reopen them via  the menu/internet/ route a message comes up that they are already open and the only way out is to either close the program concerned or restart and force close.

What is the procedure please to avoid restart and to "reopen/maximise" the program without the risk of losing any "current" work.  Thanks

Running LL2.0 - but also noticed in Mint Maya on another PC

  Vaping Calculator
Posted by: Departure - 08-19-2014, 06:12 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (1)

I am not sure if I am allowed to post software made by our selfs, just remove if its not allowed otherwise......

So since my change over to Linux I have really missed making software which was useful on windows using Delphi, I would normally make these software’s for personal use and then offer them for download for people who might also find them useful, nothing special just simple apps that could be useful to some.

So I finally installed Lazarus IDE and started making some linux useful apps(in my opinion) which is coded in free pascal, I am just starting with real simple stuff just to get use to the differences between free pascal and Delphi... anyway here is a Ohms law calculator for people who vape out there... I have included the windows one incase anyone wants it and also to see how the linux one will be later

I will be doing a Linux version with wire converting and coil builder calculation and also a juice mixer calculator, but for now just the basic linux version to see if there is any interest.

[SOLVED] Lite hangs at boot I know what it is - USB KVM switch
Posted by: DLX - 08-18-2014, 04:23 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (8)

Keep getting above error trying to post  :-\

I looked about found other with same problem not found a solution for this. I'm not pretending to know what I'm doing with Linux. On boot computer hangs I get blue screen with text I pick top one then I get a black screen with a flashing cursors.

This keeps happening each time I boot was hoping on update would fix this.
How I get round this Boot get blue screen with text I pick top one then pull USB cable out back of computer then I get next screen image grey with feather and back bar loading at bottom once bar bar is starting to load I pug USB back in.

One booted in the keyboard works fine through the KVM, I have had a look at BIOS the boot order see about putting it 1st in list.

I also looked at keyboard setting can't see anything there.

I will look at Gold finger post about pressing left shift Link removed

Quote: pci  noacpi to the kernel boot parameters allowed me to boot without disconnecting the usb kvm.
Someone post this but I don't have a clue if it fixes problem or how.

Thanks

  Sound Broken in Toughbook
Posted by: Robbz - 08-18-2014, 02:38 AM - Forum: Sound - Replies (5)

Hello,

I got a Panasonic CF-U1 Toughbook, I installed lite and got everything to work including touchscreen.  (that was everyones big problem with the hardware)
The only thing that doesn't work is audio. It will play but is glitch-y as it plays, almost like its skipping.
Tried multiple apps and everything does it out of the speaker or headphone jack.
Panasonic of course is no help, and the internet doesn't have much to offer about using this hardware.
Please note audio work perfect before on winblows vista before install.

Any ideas?

(also hello Jerry!)

Sees wireless network, but doesn't recognize password
Posted by: ultrastevep - 08-17-2014, 03:51 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (1)

This happens to me at all hotels and now at a place I am staying at that has wireless. I have been using LL1.08 for about 8 months and at home my wireless authentication password was initially recognized and then always automatically connected, but nowhere else can I get a connection. it'll see the networks, but the passwords are never recognized and I have to always switch back to W7 to connect.
Anyone else see this issue?

Thanks....am planning on loading LL2.0 as soon as we move into our new home and I have time.
Steve

Posted by: stamper - 08-17-2014, 02:49 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (2)

Hello from the netherlands,

I have installed and tested on LL 2.0 and find that this release (3.17Rc1) is quicker than 3.16 and used lesser memory.
Here it used 239 MB.
