Re: Just thought I'd introduce myself - ukbrian - 02-10-2015 @ jnektar Sorry to abuse your thread friend ![]() @Texan Rok ![]() You put a smile on my face this morning so we're quits bro, one thing you rarely get with videos is good feedback, you sussed the bits that matter, the good quality video and small size! If I put it into Openshot to it will be 10 times as big which is OK for utube but I put that on dropbox so I wanted to keep the size down. That one was recorded with Vokoscreen which is developed by a German team for Debian stable but it don't run on Ubuntu 14.04 respins but on 14.04 you can use Simplescreenrecorder(SSR) which is equally as good but lacks the webcam bit at the moment. http://www.kohaupt-online.de/hp/ http://www.maartenbaert.be/simplescreenrecorder/#download I posted a link to a video on a forum a few years back from a live streaming webcam of bald eagles nesting in Vancouver, I posted it late evening and went to bed but when I awoke in the morning there were 4 pages of folk thanking me in the most profuse way, it brought a tear to this ancients eye. Lots of folk only had dial up connections and they had never been able to see any video before. Not viewed it all yet (surprised me when the ska beat which I assumed was late 60s went into Jambalaya). I gave up trying to sort vlc audio. Installed smplayer instead and works fine. Not used it enough to compare with vlc yet which I use elsewhere. Re: Just thought I'd introduce myself - ukbrian - 02-10-2015 I don't use VLC but it's supposed to be good for the codecs I use Parole for videos and Deadbeef as a jukebox Parole is in the repos and Deadbeef is here http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/download.html I use the portable version unzipped on a data partition so I use the same folder on all the OS's I install, same with firefox ESR and my firefox profiles. ![]() I can use my portable installs of deadbeef and FX on Debian, Arch and OpenSUSE installs, I wish all apps were portable life would be so much easier. ![]() But what does a mouse user know ![]() Re: Just thought I'd introduce myself - altman - 02-10-2015 (02-10-2015, 02:39 PM)ukbrian link Wrote: I don't use VLC but it's supposed to be good for the codecs Hey Brian , it s what I have in Deadbeef s link given : Error 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable Guru Meditation: XID: 2110832172 Varnish cache server Don t know if it s on my end only . Re: Just thought I'd introduce myself - ukbrian - 02-10-2015 I get that sometimes when the LL server is busy, try later. I want music in the background so it points at my music folder on my data partition and set it to random play, I rarely have to touch it when I turn it on it carries on from where it was when I last stopped it. Re: Just thought I'd introduce myself - altman - 02-10-2015 Ah ok thanx to you Brian . |
