Hi [member=2]Jerry[/member] ,
I have run LL for a couple of years and my humble opinion is that every piece of software is well choseen and every user could change that.

I wonder whether you could give us more freedom and choices with Lite Core, sounds good.

Regards,

"I installed Lite Core - How do I make it LL Full???" or "Have core now want full".....

Well,  people should know better; lite core = no full LL. So download full LL instead.

Quote:Could "Lite Software" include those added packages/features? Or a "Lite Core Converter" to add the options??
Else, is the answer to install the full version....

I have a similar thought, maybe some kind of "profiles", but then I don't know how much extra-work would that imply, besides, what's the fun on using a "Lite Core" edition, if you take the "core" out of it? Wink
Back in 2017, I suggested a similar approach, though a bit "more extreme"  :011: https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/suggestions-and-feedback/linux-lite-3-8-suggestions-welcomed/msg37136/#msg37136

True, just thinking out loud... Thinking of those coming to Linux for the 1st time... Not as bad as having various XFCE, KDE, MATE etc. versions but I could see the question...

Or maybe an something in the repo?? to get/install like say ,,,
Code:
apt install LL_Full

But again, for it to be viable, it would need to be easily maintained...
or maybe the answer is... hey sorry, you installed the core please install the full for the full Linux Lite OS experience  :011:

I'll modify the Lite Software code to be the software-of-choice installer. Around 5 choices per category, 5 Web Browsers, 5 Media players etc. Creating a upgrade-to-full seems like a waste of code and time, if they want full LL, that solution has been provided. Lite Core would also have a separate website, because nearly half of our current visitors use an ad-blocker, I'm viewing this as a possible route to 'double' ad revenue which will allow me to go full time. Then watch this project explode with Translations etc.

I LIKE IT  :54:

If the added work out weighs the few minutes to install.... then it makes sense...  :bow

How is this exactly related to Lite Core or even Linux Lite for that matter? Short answer: It is not!

Re: Lite Core - Suggestions welcomed - useful - 05-28-2021

Runtu XFCE is a Linux Lite analog.
Runtu Lite is the equivalent of Lite Core.
In my opinion. Wink

Another category to consider adding in Lite software would be system rescue and repair and some small forensics tools like: system and boot rescue utilities, uefi utilities, nmap, wireshark, scalpel, etc.

Maybe so, but the site being in Russian doesn't help to get that. Though now that I took a scond look at the screnshots on SF, I get why you say that

It kind of "looks" like Lite Core, except it doesn't use xfwm4 but openbox, pcmanfm instead of thunar, lxde panel for xfce4-panel.
