How to make a live USB with persistence for Linux Lite - arky217 - 01-22-2019 I have used Unetbootin to make a Linux Lite USB and designated 4GB for persistence. However, when I make changes after booting the live USB, it doesn't save the changes even though I check the box on exit to do so. Should I be using another live USB maker or am I skipping some step ? Re: How to make a live USB with persistence for Linux Lite - Valtam - 01-22-2019 The Release Announcement contains the correct information for what you should use. Sorry, I must be overlooking something; I read the 4.2 release announcement, but I didn't see anything about creating an iso file from your installed system. Is the information in an earlier release announcement ? Re: How to make a live USB with persistence for Linux Lite - Valtam - 01-22-2019 It looks like your confusing your other thread with this one. In this thread, you're not asking to create an ISO file in your first post. Sorry, confused is not the half of it. ![]() I guess at 73, I must be getting old-timers syndrome or something. ![]() I somehow was looking at my other post and responded to this one. I guess the main thing I was wanting to know is what I'm doing wrong about making a live USB that has persistence. Should I be using another tool besides Unetbootin ? Re: How to make a live USB with persistence for Linux Lite - Valtam - 01-23-2019 The reason I said it was in the 4.2 release announcement is to encourage people to look at information that is already provided. In this case to get to the point, Unetbootin does not do persistence for Linux Lite. What software does? I am not sure. Someone else may know. For simply making a non-persistent USB of LL, we recommend Etcher, and nothing else. You just "Restore" the ISO image file to your USB, and that makes it bootable. I installed mkusb and it worked just fine and the usb is persistent.
