Overwriting LL4.8 with 6.0 dual boot - ohjrson - 01-17-2023 Ok So I am trying to overwrite my 4.8 LL on my dual boot system (win 10). I try doing what has been suggested in other topics, but I keep getting a message that says: "No root file system is defined, Please correct this from the partitioning menu." "Yes, use the "something else" option, and select the partition where 5.8 is installed, then check/select format to ext4." I've tried this but keep getting the above error. Let me know what info you might need... Rewrite....System I have is Windows 10 with dual boot to Linux Lite 4.8. I am simply trying to update to the new 6.0 so I can upgrade to 6.2, Every time I try to install with "something else" it gives me the error. I have searched for updating from 4.8 to 6.0 and found nothing or the same instruction to update as mentioned. (which does not work for me.) The system is an Acer Aspire laptop AMD A4 7210 w/AMD Radeon R3 graphics. Containing 4 gb memory. 500 gb hard drive. Came with Win 10. Thanks Re: Overwriting LL4.8 with 6.0 dual boot - stevef - 01-17-2023 To avoid posting in a solved topic, your post has been split into a new topic. Please start by saying what setup you have (e.g. dual boot, what OS, how many disks, how the disks are partitioned etc), what you are trying to change, what you've tried and what happened. Re: Overwriting LL4.8 with 6.0 dual boot - stevef - 01-24-2023 Ensure you've backed up your important data. It might be worth posting your existing partition information, but it sounds like you may be missing the 'mount as' bit. From my notes, this sequence worked for me. At the 'something else' option Carefully select the Linux Lite 4.8 partition and right click Select change Select format as ext4 Select mount as "/" Re: Overwriting LL4.8 with 6.0 dual boot - ohjrson - 01-25-2023 (01-24-2023, 07:28 AM)stevef link Wrote: Ensure you've backed up your important data. Ahh Excellent. Yes I am installing right now. I knew I was forgetting something. Mainly right clicking.... Figured it was something simple. Thanks coming your way. Many thanks to you. |
