Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that package is not available through "apt". Do I need to add another repository?
Secondly I want to point another thing out - it turns out there is volume control but it all happens within the first 2 to 3% of controlling the volume slider.

So in other words at 0% the volume is muted as expected, at 1% movement on the volume slider the volume increases to about 30%, at 2% the volume increases to 70% and at 3% it's at full 100%. All the volume range is controllable in the lower 3% of movement of the volume slider. Very strange.
