USB Flash Drive removal notofication

I tried using eject and unmount in both Caja and Thunar file managers.  I do get a notification but it flashes so fast that I can't read it.  I think we've all had this before whereas something works for one person but not the other.  Strange.

PS - I do not have the "eject volume" option.
