Jerry,
Following your school of thought given the error message that came up when I tried your original suggestion, I decided to try it a second time and of course I got the same error message.
So, I got brave and went in a renamed the /usr/bin/gnome-control-center’ to /usr/bin/gnome-control-center.old and then ran your command again which was sudo ln -s /usr/bin/pavucontrol /usr/bin/gnome-control-center
This time it came back without any errors.
I rebooted my PC and to my surprise, the problem appears to be resolved !!
I guess running the command recreated the file and now when I click on "Sound Settings" under the speaker Icon in the control panel, it pops up the Volume Control window with all of the correct tabs and slides to change all of the sound settings.
Thank you very much for your suggestion! I really do appreciate your help as I would have never figured that one out myself.
Please mark this one as "Resolved" as I cannot find any way to do so via a simple button or dropdown selection.
Thanks again!!!
Dan
