kpanic, I am on 3.8, and my readout is thus:
 
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Lite 3.8"
