Really sorry for the late reply...
I was fed up with my computer so mch that I let it rot for almost a month. Almost magically, my 7-year-old computer came back to life normally with no issues. The network issue was solved and it is working normally. I am confused as to why it was not working earlier.
My computer has just fixed itself magically. Any idea how?
Thanks a lot everyone for your suggestions.

And as my router is far away from my computer (my computer is a large beast), I cannot connect it with ethernet...
