I installed kernel 4.4.0.203 on my Acer Aspire One, four packages using Install Updates (LL is the only OS on that little machine). Then I cleaned up using Lite Tweaks, which I think is an excellent application. Then I tested firing up my other essential applications: Install/Remove Software, Firefox, Chromium, Backups, Systemback and Calibre. No errors observed, so I will stay on this latest kernel until proven otherwise. But lessons learned:
- If you see linux-generic packages in Install Updates, get out and install other packages using Install/Remove Software. Install the kernel on its own.
- Make Restore Points and ISO images before updates. I back up ISO images on an external hard drive.
