The goal here is trying to keep a older laptop useful but it looks like LL 5.8. will be the end of the line


As I mention in my previous reply... Try Lite Tweaks Kernel Install - install kernel version 5.4 and confirm if this helps alleviate; you will need to ensure you boot into 5.4 kernel (confirm w/ uname) and test...
