Install Updates - multiple repository issues
#8
Is your system updating ok now ?

The message
Quote:The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
Shows your system has quite a few unused/unneeded packages including old/unused kernels.

When updating/upgrading the kernel, the system will keep existing kernels as insurance.
This is not a direct problem, but each time a kernel gets added to the system, the system boot options need to be regenerated to account for every kernel present on the system. This will add significant time to any upgrade involving the kernel.
In addition the old kernels take up disk space which can become a problem.

If you have plenty of disk space and don't care about the time spent on updates you can leave well alone.

It is considered good practice to prune unused kernels. There is a Lite Tweak utility called Kernel Remover which can tidy up.
See the manual at
https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/software.html#tweaks
and read down to the bit about Kernel Remover.

No intended sarcasm in the sig - I suppose it is a disclaimer, originally came from a response from someone on the forum who didn't think the help offered was any good.
