No signal during boot

I have installed LL2.8 x64 from a live cd to a modest  dell dimension e521 (AMD sempron 3400+). I upgraded the video card to a gforce gt610  at 1360 x 768 and added 3 gig of ram.

My current issue is that when I boot the computer the monitor has no signal until the desktop(xfce) loads. the live cd had a splash screen to cover the usual code that scrolls during boot as did the previous 2.6 and 2.4.

I did not have the issue with 2.6 installed or any  of the live cd versions of 2.4,2.6.2.8

long story short,

In my case the best solution was to go do something else. The system has no signal during boot but once booted the system appears to function. no one has an explaination

second best effort was open /etc/default/grub as root and remove "quiet splash" then sudo update-grub, reboot

If that does not work for you try

hold shift down for the grub menu

hit F4 for a text boot

hit shift F2  to see the boot splash

hit shift F1 to see boot text

remove the # from GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480 in /etc/default/grub ( also try add: GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text as the next line, ) then sudo update-grub, reboot

try an optional driver

try another distro

Have you tried.?
Click on Menu then type Driver in the search box,
then click on the install drivers and see if it offers any optional drivers.??

Sorry, my last post was to show my Dell 755 with a gforce 410 card with dvi and vga and hdmi working just fine and dandy with the nouveau driver and my xrandr settings set just how I like them on a 10 dollar  Viewsonic monitor bought from goodwill with internal speakers in it.

I had posted lots of code showing what was going on. But like members on this forum. The forum did not like it. So I gave up.
Maybe your card is at fault? I bought my 410 used off ebay and got lucky getting a good card. My monitor is hooked into the dvi port though.

After a little research it appears that the version 295.53 driver should be what you are looking for.

The following is for information only drivers should be installed through Menu>Settings>Install Drivers.

The driver above may or may not fix the problem, if it doesn't I would suggest looking online for a manual for the card.

After further research it appears that this card is also covered by the nvidia graphics driver 352.63 which should be available in install drivers.  The previously mentioned driver was evidently available in Ubuntu 12.04 based distros.
