Impossible installer programmes
Posted by: Christian-cecil Tallon - 10-04-2019, 08:54 PM - Forum: French [French] - Replies (1)

Go to https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/ and paste the log below into a new or existing thread for assistance.

Christian

Fresh installation LL 4.4 on HP Prodesk 400
Posted by: Malinas - 10-04-2019, 08:13 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (7)

Hello to Everyone,
I'm a silent user of Linux Lite since 3.6 version, gradually going up to 4.4.
Recently I've got into trouble trying a fresh installation, sole OS, on Desktop HP ProDesk 400 G5 MT, Intel Core Coffee Lake 8th Gen i5-8500, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, code 4HR58EA.
Knowing the UEFI is supported only in a testing version of LL 4.2, I have set in BIOS: Legacy support, no Secure Boot and Legacy boot.
The partitioning is 2 MB for BIOS_grub, 50 GB for boot, 6 GB swap and 196 GB for Home partition.
I installed from DVD, then tried from USB and every time I've got the same error No system boot, install an OS on your disk.
Interesting is that when I use the installation from DVD, after booting error and getting back to a new trial with the option from DVD menu -"Boot from the first disk"- the system is booting from SSD with the configured desktop interface. Booting from USB this option of "Boot from the first disk" is driving me back to USB booting menu.
Just to mention that I have tried a manual reinstallation of the grub boot menu with the same result.
I left no option I'm aware of therefore any piece of advice or suggestion might be valuable.
Thank you.

  Fully upgradeable system
Posted by: minesheep - 10-03-2019, 03:40 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (6)

Why isn't it possible to upgrade from for example series 3 to series 4 while it is possible to upgrade pure ubuntu? Will LL ever get upgrade option between series?

Dual boot on an Asus E406SA
Posted by: pelouk - 10-03-2019, 10:06 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (18)

I've just been asked

by a friend who is interested in installing LL
an Asus E406SA and wants to know if this is possible. The laptop is marketed as a Cloudbook and runs Windows 10 S - i.e. the so-called stripped-down version of W 10. The machine is 64 bit with 4gb RAM and a fixed hard disk of 64Gb.

Has anyone had experience with this? Thoughts?

Ethernet Card recognized by Linux Lite every other reboot
Posted by: liamjake05 - 10-01-2019, 07:38 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (3)

I have just installed Linux Lite on an old Laptop with a Realtek FE Ethernet card. The card is only recognized every other reboot. The activity LED that is on the Ethernet port is on still when it doesn't work which tells me that the Ethernet has no hardware fault. When running ifconfig and the ethernet card is not working, the card does not show up. Wi-Fi works just fine.

Also, I have already tried doing everything on this page: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2400056
