Location of Swap Partition when Dual booting with LL4

Hi, I use a physical hard drive for my main machine and LL is currently my everyday distribution. My current scheme has an extended partition, with a shared swap partition "at the front", 3 distros, and a sharing partition at the back. But this scheme was a little too ambitious, so I'm going down to only two distros.
My question is, now that LL is now going to a swap file, instead of a swap partition, does my swap partition for a secondary distro need to be my first partition or can my new scheme be LL4/swap partition/secondary distro? In other words, does my secondary distro care where physically the swap partition is?

Shared Folders Virtualbox Guest

I installed Linux Lite 4 as a guest in Virtualbox. The installation went flawlessly. Just as in Linux Lite 3.8, the guest dkms, utils and X11 are already there, the screen resolution gives me full screen, everything, just as in 3.8, seems ready out of the box.
So in 3.8 there was no need to install the guest additions from the CD; following OS installation, the shared folders were listed in the file manager, and after adding myself to the vboxsf group and rebooting, I was able to access them
Not so in 4.0 . Everything seems to be just as it is in 3.8, so I added myself to the vboxsf group again. But my shared folders don't turn up, there's no entry in the file manager, nor in /media, and I have no idea what went wrong. I even installed the guest additions from CD which promptly messed up everything, so I reinstalled 4.0, but am facing the same shared folder problem.
I'd be grateful if someone could shed light on this and possibly resolve the problem :-)
REPOSTED IN THE INSTALLATION SECTION AND MARKING THIS POST AS ABANDONED SINCE IT CLEARLY DOESN'T BELONG IN THE TUTORIALS SECTION - SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION ...

Error when booting: Diskfilter writes not supported

Hi -- I installed LL4.0 a few days ago, onto the same old laptop I was using with LL3.8 before. Now when I boot, I see an error screen that says:
"Error: diskfilter writes are not supported.
Press any key to continue..."
I've done some Googling, and it apparently comes from GRUB. It seems to have something to do with drive partitions? I definitely don't understand the problem or the answer.
https://askubuntu.com/questions/468466/d...281#498281
It would be nice to get rid of the error. Any help would be appreciated! Should the installation process have made different partitioning choices?

Does anyone know how to maximize the gimp 2.10 window? I can minimize it, it does go full screen when i use F11, but the maximize button doesnt work at all. Not sure if thats a bug in Gimp, ubuntu 18.04 or LL 4.0 or my laptop

Good evening!
For the last couple of days I've been trying to try and install LL 4.0 but the live usb crashes with the attached message. I can see the loaded screen and select to Load LL4.0 or check the media. After I click to load LL4.0, the message appears.
It may have to do with the usb stick I'm using, because i've tried to create the live usb both from Win10 and LL3.8 (with Etcher, Rufus, unetbootin and usb-creator) and I get the same error each time.
I'm just asking to see if it's something else maybe...

I just set up my home LL server. wow, that was easy! Everything went much smoother then expected all the way up until I try to actually access my external drive.
As Root I am able to access and edit the drive, but as a standard user I only see them as grayed out options and don't have create options.
I've logged in as Root, and have tried to change the permissions, but just errors out when I try and set them to a user or read and write.
I've tried doing this with the partitions both mounted and unmounted, and get the same result.
My goal is to have 4 network shares that can be accessed by my home users

Hi guys!
I wonder if anyone could help me get my USB modem back to functioning, I'd used it on this same system a year ago but today when I plugged it back in nothing worked any more.
The connection that was still saved for it didn't produce results.
By calling my internet provider I've learnt that this modem somehow keeps switching itself into 1x (CDMA) mode, while it should be in EVDO mode.
Of course, they've got this software for Windows, "Mobile Partner", it's even hard-written into the modem itself, one can run the connection from there. Maybe, if I could extract that software from this modem and run in on Linux through Wine it would help...
With my limited Linux knowledge and Googling, I've figured that the device is:
Bus 001 Device 016: ID 12d1:140c Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E180v
(ttyUSB0 - I guess, and so guesses wvdial that I've installed - it disappears from /dev/ directory when I unplug it. But there are also ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2 which disappear-reappear together with ttyUSB0, it's like they're identical twins)
tried to do this
Code: echo "AT^PREFMODE=4" > /dev/ttyUSB0
no result, except that ttyUSB0 file turns from 'character device' into a 'plain text file' ))))...
so I've installed wvdial but not much difference with clicking on the connection in the list as usual
guess I'll leave its log here just in case:

It even connected and let me browsed a page a couple of times today (internet operator detected it too), but a few seconds later the internet was gone again as I guess the modem switched into that wrong mode again (1x).
I'm gonna lose lotsa weight trying to investigate this on my own, I've already skipped dinner ;D ;D ;D

I am using chromium webbrowser. I added --password-store=basic to the command for the launcher. This to not get the keyring password request everytime i open chromium. This works great.
When i use a link in thunderbird and chromium is closed i still get the keyring password request. When i have cromium open and i use a link in email the keyring password request doesnt popup. What needs to be changed to not get the keyring popup when i open a link in thunderbird with chromium closed?

I have a Team Viewer Version 11 Business License and use it sparingly to support new Linux Lite users. Linux Lite 4.0 will not install properly or run at all. My guess is; it maybe the kernel version.
Other than that I like LL 4 so far and hope this can be overcome without having to sign up for "Pay Forever Team Viewer Version 13" as my Version 11 already paid in full and "supposed to be a forever license"
Any help MUCH APPRECIATED ...
Thanks on advance,Doug
