One thing that always bothered me was that the FireFox title bar uses a lot of space. This is even worse when your display isn't the biggest.
A few days back I found a handy Firefox add-on: Hide Caption Titlebar Plus. I will put the tabs on the same level as the close/max/min buttons.

It also comes with a lot of options for how the window buttons behave for example only closing the active tab when clinking the close button or the tab size.

The totals for torrent downloads should be over 200k.  Seems the most significant bit didn't rollover from 1 to a 2.

One thing I’ve always liked about WindowsOS is the simplicity of plug-and-play capability with external devices, e.g. an additional monitor.

[size=1em]In fact,  the only real reason I have WindowsOS dual-booted with Linux [see set-up (1) in sig] is for this plug-and-play capability.  I like to play videos or TV programmes on my laptop through the 26" (66cm) monitor of our Samsung TV (type LE26B450), so that viewing can be shared easily with all the family.  And WindowsOS does this so easily, automatically & instantly resizing and finding the optimal screen resolution without any messing around with settings etc.

[/size][size=1em]With Linux Lite & Linux Mint, and some other distros, I found this to be a bit of a pain to set up.

[/size][size=1em]However, I’ve just discovered a distro that has WindowsOS–like plug-and-play simplicity with our Samsung TV monitor, and wondered if this capability (for additional monitors in general) could be packaged into future releases of LL?  [/size][size=1em]Details are as follows:  it involves set-up (2) in signature, which is a 10” Samsung NP-N145 netbook running with PCLinuxOS (a.k.a. PCLOS). This netbook  doesn't have HDMI output, so I used an ESYNIC VGA to HDMI Converter to play laptop videos & programmes through the TV monitor via an HDMI cable.  It worked: instant plug-and-play, hooray!!![/size]

The only additional thing you need to do is go to the VLC player toolbar and change the audio setting so that the sound plays through the TV and not through the netbook (just 2 clicks away).

Apologies for posting this here.  Not sure where else to post
  A popup of pettocus.info has started doing the rounds on android phones.It appears to be a redirecting malware.  It gave a false virus infection warning requiring immediate updating of android.  If this link was clicked presume some code was downloaded to the phones phishing etc.
In a family members case, it is unlikely that the phone has been previously backed up  so all  stored data address books photos etc are only on the phone and would be st if doing a factory had reset so.

QUESTION.  If the phone date is now backed up to an externally plugged in hard drive or usb of sufficient space. and then the backed up data were to be scanned on my LL laptop, what could/should I use to vigorously scan it to ensure it is clean and will not recontaminate a freshly reset phone?

I'm running 32bit Linux Lite on a 10-year-old laptop. Not sure why I chose the 32bit installation - it was some time ago and not important for my purposes back then - but I'm now trying to get more performance out of the machine.

I've just upgraded the RAM from 2 to 4GB, and am now wondering whether I should upgrade the OS to the 64bit version, which poses a couple of questions:

• Is a 64bit upgrade likely to make much difference to performance (for example to better exploit the RAM upgrade)?
  
• Is there an easy way of upgrading, rather than starting from scratch? (as a relative Linux novice I'd rather take an easy option)
