  What Xfce SHOULD stand for

According to Wikipedia, "The developers' current stance is that the initialism [Xfce] no longer stands for anything specific."  I say it should stand for:

  Web Hosting Upgrades
Posted by: valtam - 10-05-2015, 11:10 AM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

Just to give you all some notice, our web host is deploying a major PHP upgrade, details below:

Quote:The upgrade maintenance window will occur on Oct 14, between the hours of 4:00pm - 12:00am MDT. There will be a brief period where Apache will not be reachable as services are restarted after the upgrades. The estimated downtime will be no more than 15 minutes.

The Forum, our Screenshots and Bugs sections all use PHP, and all of our online services of course use Apache. This will not affect our repository. I'm not anticipating any major calamity, but hey, it's computers, never say never Smile

Posted by: TMG1961 - 10-04-2015, 08:04 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (35)

Got a HP Pavillion dv7 3120ed here. It has windows 10 home installed and i need to get Linux Lite on it in a dual boot with windows.
The laptop will be used in Linux most of the times but for somethings it needs to run windows.

What is the best way to install Linux Lite and keep windows 10 and have a dual boot system. Asking because i managed to screw things up for the last 3 times i tried it.

Can't connect to windows server PPTP VPN
Posted by: disk0bug - 10-04-2015, 05:08 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (10)

We have a simple windows server 8 vpn at the office.  I can easily connect to it with my macbook air, a windows laptop, my iphone and ipad.  For some reason, I can't get a connection from linux.  I tried with Ubuntu and OpenSuse, I now switched to Linux Lite.  I never was able to connect to my windows vpn from a linux station.  Why is that so?

With Linux Lite, it just doesn't connect.  It doesn't give me an error message or anything.  How do I connect to a windows VPN?

Firstly i have found Linux Lite an outstanding OS.....  It has trouble free untill today....

When booting up.....  Put in password.....  Then i get a black screen with a cursor on it.....

If i boot up into windows.....  Works Ok.....

I would appreciate if some could help me with this one.....  A solution or a way to recover without losing settings.....

I have used systemback..... Can this be used to recover if there is not a easy solution....

Help Manual and Lock Screen Keyboard Shortcut
Posted by: torreydale - 10-03-2015, 03:11 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (1)

The keyboard shortcut listed in the manual to lock ones desktop is Super+L.  But mine was listed as follows:

I edited that entry with the xflock4 command.  And now the screen does lock with Super+L.  I guess it wasn't working before because I disabled Light Locker.
