Well I am new to linux and decided to give lite ago along side my windows7.

What I can not understand is how to install and get a virtual keyboard up and running in lite.

Would some kind person please point me in the right direction.

Hello, I just want to say thanks for such a nice clean install with no effort , all my old hardware was sorted from the get go.  That means a lot to non power users when hours aren't wasted just trying to install a new system.  I simply wanted to use Linux on a second hard drive along with XP on another, I plan on doing the INTERNET using this Lite to help make the old XP more secure.  I see nothing out of the box  to not like, it's clean and seems to  roll with what I want.  It took a while to find what I wanted in a Linux system. I like mint and Ubuntu but neither is now giving the older hardware a chance to install, very irritating to install and have a nice screen only disappear after the first boot into the new system, not to mention the resources are much too demanding for a 10 year old computer. I tried correcting display driver issues following other users experiences only to have another obstacle like missing libc and other things happening.  So I kept reading and looking and found this nice distro.  I'll be sure and talk kindly about it to friends   

hi there could you tell me how to turn off the num lock as this comes on when the computer boots  also the keyring comes on to allow the wireless to work how do i turn this off

Vimeo Choppy playing full screen sometime small window. I don't remember having this when first loaded LL  :-\
but do now. I have turned off HD when playing  to speed up.

Don't have any problem play full screen youtube videos. maybe as HTML5 player

There could be something else going on as I type a work the le t t er takes time to aper on screen!

Registered yesterday, after testing LinuxLite 2.4 for some weeks.
I last fired up Windows about ten years ago...so I 'm not really in Lite's target group.
I've been using several distros over the years, with Puppy Linux as my long-time favourite.

Lite is impressive! Clearly a lot of work/attention to details/love has gone into it.

Of course I miss some of Puppy's features: its small size, its speed and the power to work efficiently as root (administrator), but let's not compare apples with oranges.

Linux Lite is a wonderful project. Congrats to the developers group!

This is by no means an offical thing, but as a side project been trying to find a cool way to check for updates (without sudo lol). And it's fun to make my own stuff lol. Gonna post progress (and code later this week) as I go along. Maybe a few people are interested in testing it out down the road. For now tho a fun screenshot.







Whats really fun here is I can get the count of new packages with no sudo. No fancy stuff really. But atm this is only at startup. Gotta add a timer, and most likely manual execution of the update check.




Again I stress this isnt an offical tool, just has linuxlite in the about because why not lol.

i have ubuntu currently installed and need to install linux lite without benefit of a usb or cd, in otherwords, it has to be installed from a down loaded file without resorting to a boot from a usb or cd.  Is this possible.
