[SOLVED] Lost wifi after update and restart |

I had this issue twice already, I did the updates and the system worked fine, I shutdown the laptop as I was traveling, when I restarted the laptop it did not recognize the wireless card, and yes I know it works since I dual boot this laptop and it worked just fine in Windows 7 and prior to the restart, so I looked in here and found that someone else had the same issue and reinstalled and did update and it worked fine after that, so I reinstalled lite 2.0, did the update and it now recognizes the wireless, used it for the day then shut down and when I restarted I again had no wireless connectivity, and it still worked for the Win7 boot, there has to be something in the updates that is breaking the boot or load of the wireless drivers. other than this issue I am happy with this distro, but if I have to reinstall after every time I update then I will not be using or recommending this ditro to other people.

[SOLVED] Broadcom Wireless issue |

Hey,
Seems I have an issue with my Broadcom on an Aspire 3000. I know there was one before and I have tried those solutions to no resolve. Two things that are happening.
1. the Wireless quit working on me when I did a reboot after the initial updates. I installed 2.0 and things were just fine. It even remembered the wireless password and auto connected when it rebooted into the fresh install.
I did my updates and all and then rebooted again. This time it did not start the wireless and could no longer see a wireless. I thought oh I must have hit the switch or something. So I hit the switch and nothing happened. So I rebooted again. Same result, no wireless.
So I came on here (which I was already on singing praise and all) and looked for wireless information issues, Found one with another Broadcom Wireless and tried those things. (as noted above) Nothing.
So here I am thinking... Alright it was working before the update. What was it using prior to the update. Would that be on the live CD? hmmm Better ask Valtam. So here I am.
2. I have noticed that when I shut down the system Or try to restart it. It takes the full length of the bar on the splash screen and then just sits there. I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds to shut it off....
Any Ideas?
Stupid Broadcom.....
Oh yeah I had also installed Play on Linux prior to this happening. Will that make a difference? I did not install anything though.
update:
I rebooted into the live usb I used for install and it works great as I suspected. So.... where do I get that driver?

Trouble installing Linux Lite on a Windows XP computer, 32 bit |

I downloaded Linux Lite from the website "www.linuxliteos.com". I burned the OS onto a DVD using Sonic. After trying to boot up using the DVD, I get Linux Lite on the screen and its says it will automatically boot and it counts down from 10 seconds to 1 second and then I get a blank black screen with a white window inside of the black screen. I cannot get past this point. Any ideas what the problem may be. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm a new user of Linux Lite and liking it a lot, but I have a problem.
I'm using an old Acer Aspire 3630 laptop, very slow and outdated, but good enough for what I use it for, which is basically a media center, connected to a big TV and a 5.1 sound system.
Everything works just fine if playing mp3 files, using the internal cdrom drive, etc.
The problem is when I try to watch a movie from an external hard drive. The sound is completely of sync with the images.
I use SMPlayer.
Can some one help, please? :-[

I'm a new user of LL, coming from the Windows world. Although I've played with various flavors of Mint in the last few years, I'm trying to move to LL permanently. I'm having a problem on three different machines that's driving me nuts. No matter how many times I set Chromium (or Chrome) as "preferred," when I open the application, it tells me it's not the default. When I click on a hyperlink in an email, I get a box asking me to choose an application (and Chromium is never a "choice." Have seen this problem in Mint occasionally, is this a Linux thing, or is there a permanent fix? Thank you.

Remove New Document/Presentation/Spreadsheet from menu |

Hi,
I am new to LinuxLite and like what I see.
While configuring it to my liking I removed the default LibreOffice installation using 'apt-get purge libreoffice?' and then installed the latest version from the deb files.
Everything worked OK apart from being left with the New Document/Presentation/Spreadsheet entries in the Office menu which no longer work (the new LibreOffice 4.3 entries are fine). The original menu entries are not shown in the Main Menu editor and I've looked in the xfce-applications menu files and cannot see how they get included.
How do I hide/remove these menu entries?

Using it now, seems to be easier for windows migrants. IMO. It is formerly known as Kingsoft . I am finding conflicting info on weather it is open source or not. Maybe someone can fill me in. I also want to check out xfdashboard, a Gnome like super-key search

[Solved] Strange title in Grub2 |

I just did a clean install and I noticed something strange in Grub2. It says "Description: Linux Lite 2.0" instead of just plain "Linux Lite 2.0". This is generated by the lsb_release -d command in /etc/default/grub:
Code: gayle@lite:~$ lsb_release -d
Description: Linux Lite 2.0
Is there any way to change this?
