[SOLVED] HP 3840, 3845 printer. can't get LL/HPLIP to recognize |

I referred to this thread: https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=270.0 and followed tutorials. HPLIP is updated, also did a full system update for LL
Running through the menu/settings/printers menu, the printer is not seen/recognized
Running through menu/accessories/HP device manager, via USB I/O selection, the printer also is not "discovered"
The printer is plugged in to USB, and powered up. Tried restarting printer, unplugging/plugging, restarting computer in multiple different sequences, still nothing.
Please help. I have no idea how to proceed from here.
Also, I am trying to fix this via talking my mother through it step by step by phone, so unfortunately, it is quite laborious even to just get her to enter simple terminal commands. Whatever, have to get her through it.
Thanks

Cannot install the right language pack |

Hello,
I want to switch the system language to German. To do so I followed the description given here in the forum.
Update language support
It's checking the language support but doesn't ask me to install a new language pack (I told the system to make German the system language.).
So I thought maybe the German language pack is already there. In the list of languages there is "German", but it's grey. So I cannot activate German.
If I click on 'Install / Remove Languages' there is already a tick at German.
If I deinstall the German language pack and install it again nothing changes.
I don't know what else I can do. Is it possible to install the language package just as a normal package with apt-get ?

Microsoft wheel mouse (optical) has no pointer |

Each time I boot up my newly installed Linux-Lite 2.0 box, the mouse pointer is nothing more then a mini snowy tv screen. I have a heck of a time trying to figure out where to place it and click to do what I want to do in Linux. The only alternative I found was to change the mouse theme. That works while the session is open. Once I shut down or log-off and then turn it back on, its back to the snowy TV icon. Is there a fix or permanent way around this problem?

Removing the USB Data Card (Mobile Broadband) Hangs the system |

Dear LL,
I face a new issue in LL 2 which was not experienced in LL 1.08;
1. The Mobile broadband data card asks for a password every time to connect.
2. When the connection is disconnected and when the USB data card is removed, the network connection manager hangs (Icon becomes X mark) and the system also hangs and no other function works.
This was absolutely not experienced in LL1.08, i used to remove the data card even when it is connected live, the connection manager just disconnects the Internet and shows the message box "you are disconnected" and it continues normal operations.

I cannot find an option in the menus for Password & Keys
I was trying to help Pelouk with his Topic --- Keyboard garbled
Quote:I get a window "Unlock Keyring" asking for my password for the Default keyring. I thought, "No problem now that I've got the keyboard issue sorted" but it won't accept my password???!
I now have the same "Unlock Keyring" request when I open Chrome Browser so I also wanted to find a fix . I looked in my crib list and found I had this in Lite 1-0-8 and made a note of how to fix it i
Quote:Password & Keys > Passwords (Rt click item ) Default Key> unlock or Password to blank
Login > ( to change )

Just a newbie as of today and trying to get started but I've hit a real stumbling block with my keyboard input.
I'm using a Medion laptop which has a feature which has never been a problem in the past but is now. It has the usual qwerty layout but several of the keys (e.g. the J K and L) have numeral superscripts. Since installation, I find that unless I hold the Fn key down while typing such characters, I get nonsense - for example, "keyboard" comes out as "2eyb6rd".
I've checked that my keyboard is registered under system as "English UK" but can't figure out how to correct this. I can't even use my password and am sending this from another machine.
Can anyone help, please?
