  Autologin bug LightDM
Posted by: valtam - 07-17-2014, 08:49 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (3)

I've discovered a bug in lightdm after a fresh install of Linux Lite. The current script for enabling and disabling autologin uses the following path:

Code:
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

to make the changes. It now seems the info is read from:

Code:
/usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/40-lightdm-webkit-greeter.conf

I've updated the scripts accordingly. Please run Install Updates now to fix this.

CAUTION: If your enable/disable autologin is working, do not mess with this!!! I have found that changing this path on an existing installation breaks the login rendering you unable to get to your desktop. Just run Install Updates, that is all.

I have just discovered Linux Lite and I just say that I LOVE it!!! It is truly fast and elegant. I have the habit of logging off and on multiple times a day. On other distros my lgoon was the default and all I had to do was enter my password. Would someone be able to tell me how to configure Linux Lite to not have to click on my name every time I want to login? I like to just sit down, enter my password, and hit enter. By the time I've done all that the monitor has woken up. It would be nice not to have to use the mouse to logon. Thanks for any help. And, before I go, Kudos to the developers for a tremendous job!

  Display Settings
Posted by: Colin23erk - 07-16-2014, 10:06 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (3)

The "All Settings " window is a step in the right direction but I feel the DISPLAY settings could be improved and simplified for the occasional user to understand and is pointed in the right direction

Could  all the settings  needed to control what happens on the screen  be brought under one  common integrated  "Display "  Settings option  so there is no need to search in Power setting  (not an obvious place) / Screensaver settings / Desktop settings / Display settings . for settings which may conflict with each other . A screen brightness control could also be added .

  Linux Lite 2.0 won't boot
Posted by: T1125P - 07-16-2014, 03:52 AM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (1)

Hi all, I just encountered this error just now. My netbook now hangs on the feather upon boot. I have tried recovery mode but still it won't boot. It keeps showing the error: /media/user/EXTERNAL is not ready yet or not present. But that makes no sense as that was my external USB drive that I use to transfer files an is not connected to my netbook. My OS is not even on that drive, so I don't know why it's not booting like it should.  Sad

How to YouTube to mp3 ?
Posted by: bitsnpcs - 07-16-2014, 01:26 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (2)

Hello,

on windows I would use videoGet to download a YouTube video, then use VLC to save the audio from that .flv video as MP3 file, hence I gave this overall process the nickname yTunes.

How do I best now achieve this task, do I need a replacement program to videoGet, maybe there is a yTunes like software for LL ?
