I think my computer hard drive died. :'( It had been crashing. Sometimes it said it had overheated. I could shut it down for a while and usually have to unplug it. It did not come back up this last time. I tried reinstalling Linux Lite 2.0 from the DVD but it said there was no space on the hard drive. I am taking it in to a computer repair shop tomorrow to be checked.
Anyway if it costs too much to fix, what would you recommend to replace it?
From reading http://www.cupoflinux.com/SBB/index.php/...538.0.html looks like an AMD would be the best way to go. I do not have the skill to build a computer so a ready made would be necessary. I think $500 or less would be a good price with shipping and/or tax. I would want a DVD drive. Can reuse monitor, etc.

Is it possible to create a favourite system for posts.
There is an options to"Show unread posts "but once they have been read they get lost .
Quite often I read posts that I want to refer to again and have to search through different categories trying to remember were I read it .
I would like to be able to mark ones I am interested in and be able to "Show Marked Topics " and get my own list when I want to view one of them .

Could the Forum Search Box colours be changed to easy to read ones . Preferably to good old Black Font on a White background so people with sight problems can see what is written .
I may be old and therefore old fashioned but its another case of style over content that designers throw at us forgetting their users needs .

On the Xfce Desktop PANEL" there an Option to Add a BRIGHTNESS PLUGIN . It works as expected except the SLIDER does not change the brightness. There are Brightness Function Keys on the keyboard that can move the slider display but have no effect on brightness .
Has anyone had the same problem or it would be useful to know if you can control the brightness on yours OK.
My PC is a Samsung NC 110 Netbook with an Integrated Intel Video Chip

After doing a new install on Linux Lite, and setting up a username and password, when it starts up I entered my password which was accepted. However, when trying to do anything once logged in that requires my password, the password is rejected, even though I have not changed it.
So why is this?

I read about Linux Lite in a magazine and decided to try it. I downloaded the 32-bit ISO file and installed it in Virtual Box which all worked very well.
I was looking for a new distro for my Asus EeePC which is a few years old now, but works well. It was running another distro which was getting outdated.
I put Linux Lite 2.0 onto a USB drive using Unetbootin and booted the EeePC from the USB drive.
It booted into live mode with no problems, and I set about doing an install, just the same as I had done previously on my desktop PC in Virtual Box.
It allowed me to choose partitions for / and /home okay, and I chose to encrypt my home folder, and started to install. But when it got as far as Creating User, it just freezes. I tried restarting the install and got the same result.
When I clicked on the "Creating User..." text it gave some CLI output text, the last bit is as follows:
Quote:GLib.source_remove(self.keyboard_layout_timeout_id)
/usr/lib/ubiquity/plugins/ubi-console-setup.py:74: Warning: Source ID 3281 was not found when attempting to remove it
I would really like to get it installed, so how can I do so?

Wanted to say after just a few hours trying out LL2 I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to browse to my NAS (it showed in Workgroup) and was able to instantly gain access ... something I had no luck with with LL1x
