Yes, they are exactly the same commands that I asked you to run in post 6.
Please run them again - they should generate a new pair of text files in your home directory. Please post the results of the second run.

It must have produced something.
What exactly do you mean by 'produced a Blank page' ?

It's either that you have had enough, or you didn't receive my last reply to you yesterday.  I did mention that I'm having problems posting my messages.

So I contacted the admin: I got the following message when posting - "There has been an error due to your post data being empty."

The response I got was: "This could be due to a browser page refresh or direct access to this page. We recommend you press the browser back button and begin again."  "That happens quite randomly; we haven't pinpointed it yet. Just Ctrl+C your posts before you submit them, just to be on the safe side."

After carrying out the suggestion above, I saw the message had been posted.

If it's just that you have given up helping me, let me know, so I can try alternative methods to get this low-end laptop working well.

As I mentioned in my last message, I've tried several Linux distros, and the download and update packages were fine without any problems, including Windows 10 64-bit.  However, they used too much RAM, causing the laptop to run slowly, sometimes crashing.  Linux Lite is the best one I've found for it, but that's giving hell with the package updates.  No problems with the third-party wifi driver/software updates, though.
