I've found a bug that after upgrade, will show /etc/llver as 'Linux Lite 3.0' instead of 'Linux Lite 3.2' This in turn affects Lite Tweaks, Bootup Fix.
Will work on a fix and report back when complete.

It cannot be this hard...
I am embarrassed to admit how many hours I have spent trying to find out for myself, without asking anyone, one basic, basic, basic question. I have scoured Google and learned a lot. Just not the answer.
This is what I want to do-using File Manager. Not Linux commands-File Manager.
(After alot of of research,I appreciate how with LinuxLite I don't have to gksudo nautilus/nemo etc....)
(For reference I am running LL on Windows 8.1 under VirtualBox with a Shared Folder)...
This very basic thing is what I want to do...
I want to open File Manager, navigate to my Shared Folder...right here I get errors and can't even look at the shared folder...
I got around that by Open As Admin. LL opens another File Manager (this one with root privileges).
OK! Now I can look at the Shared Folder! I can see all the files! I am thinking I'll just drag and drop the file I want onto my desktop. Nope.Again with the error.
OK. So I "Copy" and and navigate to MY desktop
(not root/Desktop-this was another time consuming big gottcha..my DESKTOP-the screen I look at when LL is started- is NOT /root/Desktop. This is not intuitive! My DESKTOP is "/home/sweetloraine/Desktop/. Without years of MSDOS command prompts this would have been a showstopper. I would think /root/Desktop is THE desktop.)
I click on the DESKTOP ("/home/sweetloraine/Desktop") right-click and try to paste. Nope.
The file is COPYed. SO I know I can paste it somewhere!! I navigate, using FileManager, to "/home/sweetloraine/Desktop" (which is my DESKTOP) and paste. Success! The file is copied to my DESKTOP. I can see it!
ALMOST THERE!!!
I close every terminal, every File Manager, every window; it is just me and the DESKTOP-the screen with all the icons on it-DESKTOP. (Having root Desktop,User Desktop, and the actual visual desktop makes things hard to explain-and is a source of confusion).
I can see my file! BUT it has an "X" in the lower right hand corner of the icon. Bad news...
This is what I want-I want that icon to NOT have an "X". I want to be able to just click on the file and have it open.
I am so close I can taste it...But there has to be an easier way to do this:
Copy a file to the desktop. Click on the file I just copied and be able to open it when NOT root (if it is a video file, then play it. If it is a text file then open it.).
I feel retarded posting question because it cannot possibly be this hard...but I am at the end of my wits.
If some kind soul answers this, I swear I am going to type this into Google 10 billion times:
"How do you copy a file to the desktop in Linux?"
Hopefully it will send the question to the top of Google's results.

Problems with LL2.8 to LL3.2 update - HELP

I have just updated LL2.8 to LL3.2, retaining the original /home directory but have encountered the following initial problems with this update. - Menu, Install Updates - Opens a blank LXTerminal, no user name showing and unable to type ANYTHING in terminal
- Menu, System, Create System Report - Identical to No1 above
- Wallpapers cannot be set in ANY directory as ALL images greyed out in Background Settings Manager but freely available in image viewer
Any help in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated

Supertuxkart 0.8.1-2 dependencies not satisfied in LL3.0 - how to fix?

Setup (3) in sig below is too old (outdated graphics card) to run Supertuxkart version 0.9 - this version is found in the LL3.0 repo. Therefore, the only way to get Supertuxkart working in LL3.0, is to run an earlier version. Previously, I've run Supertuxkart 0.8.1-2 successfully on setup3, using LL2.8, however it won't install on LL3.0, due to dependency issues.
To install version 0.8.1-2, I have the following packages:
(1) supertuxkart_0.8.1-2_amd64.deb
(2) supertuxkart-data_0.8.1-2_all.deb
I used gdebi to install both packages.
First, I installed package(2) - that went smoothly. When I attempted to install package(1), the installation got stuck, gdebi giving the following alert:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libenet2a (>=1.3.7+ds)
I'd appreciate your help on how to fix this. I did sudo apt-get install libenet2a in terminal but that didn't work. It would be a shame if I had to revert to LL2.8 in order to get supertuxkart to work...
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Mike

Hi all.
I'm very new to linux world and have a laptop (not main computer, only for some student work) that i like to install linux to try from time to time and i'm having some problem after linux Lite install.
My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6-3080br, Phenom II P940, 4gb and hybrid card with Radeon 5650 / 4250 that i have alot of problem when i use linux because of this hybrid (the control only work in windows and with catalyst earlier version, because the hybrid 4250 / 5650 series was discontinued for newest drivers because of the 4250 chip.
But the problem (only in linux lite) os that when i install, the system work very nice, but the "Display Settings" keep opening..... if i let the notebook and came back, there are 4000 windows of display settings.
There is a way to correct this? Where i can find something about it? searched in forums but didin't find.
Thanks!!

I have played with different Linuxes for years-always under VirtualBox. I have been seriously testing many Linux flavors lately since I plan on dedicating a decent computer and serving up webpages soon. So far I have played with a ton of Linuxes-Manjaro,Mint,Cinnamon,Ubuntu,Elemantary,PcLinux,Centos,Puppy...more,but you get the point.
Being a DOS then every version of Windows user and then much later a linux beginner (that is slightly above noob),they have ranged from hair pulling, to frustrating, to not bad, to almost there (Peppermint was almost there),to....
Linux Lite is the winner for me. It just clicks! I get it.
Trying all these Linuxes has changed my computer habits for the worse. Lets be clear-this is NOT any Linux's fault. If anyone's "fault" it is the fault of VirtualBox. When booting the Virtual Machine, Virtualbox turns off the num lock on the keyboard-not that big of a deal, but can be very annoying when you are trying as many Linuxes as I have lately. Now in Windows or a VirtualBox session, everytime before I use the number pad for a split second I think "is num lock on? is num lock off? is it on? is it off? on? off?" Repeat that 5,000 times a day and you see it gets a bit disconcerting.
But not LinuxLite!
Somewhere there is a LinuxLite genius programmer that wrote the equivalent of this code:
If NumLock is off then turn it on
If NumLock is on then leave it on
Brilliant! I think it is the small thoughtfull touches that makes LinuxLite stand out.
It clicks!

Kernel Removal using Lite Tweaks

Just upgraded to 3.2 so I am ready to clean out old kernel using Lite Tweaks. Check System Profiler and Benchmark for kernel in use. Don't see it listed in ones that can be removed by Lite Tweaks. Does this mean I can or should remove all the ones listed? :-\
(Tried searching forum and Help Manual but did not find instructions on this.)
