Constant time adjustment [Still Happening] |

So this has been my issue for quite some time. I have not really put it in here because I have been waiting for someone else to maybe have the same problem. Alas no one seems to have this issue. What is happening is that my time is losing time as the computer is on. in one week it will be off by an hour and I have to reboot. Problem is that when I do this it does not always reboot, and I have to do some other things to get it to boot up into ubuntu 12.04 then it goes ahead and finishes its boot up. Aside from that when it does boot up the time is reset. Yes I know that I can do this through the terminal and I have been doing that of late, but it is getting annoying that I constantly have to manually update and reset the time.
My specs are as follows:
-Computer-
Processor : 2x Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz
Memory : 1802MB (893MB used)
Operating System : Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
User Name : (omitted)
Date/Time : Wed 21 May 2014 08:59:47 PM EDT
-Display-
Resolution : 1024x768 pixels
OpenGL Renderer : Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV530 [Radeon X1600 Pro] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
X11 Vendor : The X.Org Foundation
-Multimedia-
Audio Adapter : ICH4 - Intel ICH5
-Input Devices-
Power Button
Power Button
AT Translated Set 2 keyboard
Logitech Trackball
Logitech USB Receiver
Logitech USB Receiver
spca561
-Printers (CUPS)-
Photosmart_C6300
-SCSI Disks-
ATA ST3160827AS
ST350063 0AS
What is the resolution to this problem? I also can't seem to do anything with the programs I downloaded for the ATI video cards, unsure what or why that does not work.
Any help with this will be great!...
Thanks
Ohjrson

How do you permanently tweak MTU settings? |

Hi guys,
Complete noob here so please bear with me.
I found when I installed Linux Lite 1.0.8 that I could not log in to services such as Facebook, Gmail etc. but could still generally browse the Web fine most of the time.
I Googled this issue and came across an Ubuntu forum which had a solution by pasting this into the Terminal:
Code: sudo ifconfig eth0 mtu 1360
Whilst it resolved the issue, I still have to type it in every time I reboot in order to log in anywhere.
I have searched how to change the MTU settings permanently and came across a general Linux solution but I cannot seem to pull up the file "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0" on Linux Lite.
Any help on how to do this would be much appreciated.
(I'm not even sure what most of the code means or what an MTU really is or why I need to change it - I just know I need to change it! ;D)

Installing Linux Lite on a USB after an HD installation... |

Hi,
today I have installed linux lite on a PC.
I have booted the iso from a USB key then I have installed on SD1 which is an Hard Drive.
Then I have started the installation program again to install it on a second USB and ... surprise.. it use SD1 as "source" device.
I have rebooted again, booted from the first USB pen but when I ask to install the distribution it points to SD1 as source insted of the USB key I am booting from.
In this situation if I continue installing the system hangs at the middle of process.
Regards,
Giuseppe Chillemi

[SOLVED] Enabling Bluetooth Audio in Volume Control |

EDIT:
Hello!
This post is no longer relevant, as the information has been updated.
Instead, please refer to this post: https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=558.0
Hello, All!
I finally got around to adding LL 2.0 Beta to my HP laptop with built-in Bluetooth support. The Bluetooth headset paired OK, but had no audio, and the headset did not appear in Volume Control. Turns out that in Ubuntu 14.04 (and also some earlier versions), the module named module-bluetooth-discover isn't getting loaded to enable the Audio Sink service, which routes the audio to the Bluetooth device.
Here's a workaround. By the numbers, here's what it takes to get audio out of the Bluetooth device. Sadly, until someone cooks up a fix, THIS *MUST* be done EVERY time you pair the device, which is a real bummer.
1. Left-click on the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar. This brings up the 'Bluetooth Devices' window.
2. Select 'Device > Connect > Headset Service'. Wait until you see "Success" at the bottom of the window.
3. Open a terminal window [CTRL-ALT-T], and type the following:
Code: pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
(I had '24' echo back when I did this.)
4. Left-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select 'Sound Settings'. This opens the 'Volume Control' window.
5. Click the 'Configuration' tab. You should NOW see your Bluetooth device. Left-click on its 'Profile:' bar and select 'High Fidelity Playback (A2DP)'.
6. Click the 'Output Devices' tab. You should NOW be able to adjust the volume of your Bluetooth headphones.
7. Click the 'Playback' tab. Change the 'ALSA plug-in (plugin-container) ALSA playback on' setting from 'Built-in Audio Analog Stereo' to what appears as your headset to route your audio from the built-in speakers to the headset.
I REALLY *DO* hope the bug-swatters at Launchpad get this dealt with SOON. This is a REAL *PAIN!*...

Looking for a spot of help please.
Converted my old business xp esprimo to LL 1.0.8, connected printer via USB, perfect printing! Can even print from my eos laptop and bohdi netbook over WiFi.
BUT
Can not scan?
LL scanner app just doesn't accept the fact that there is a scanner attached?
Any ideas?
Cheers!

Rsyslogd not logging to file |

Hi,
On my system, Rsyslogd sometimes stops logging to files. It's random and happens maybe every other week. It doesn't coincide with any changes or updates.
I found a diagnostic that told me to run the following command:
/usr/sbin/rsyslogd -f/etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf -N1
The output is:
rsyslogd: version 5.8.6, config validation run (level 1), master config /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf
rsyslogd: WARNING: rsyslogd is running in compatibility mode. Automatically generated config directives may interfer with your rsyslog.conf settings. We suggest upgrading your config and adding -c5 as the first rsyslogd option.
rsyslogd: Warning: backward compatibility layer added to following directive to rsyslog.conf: ModLoad immark
rsyslogd: Warning: backward compatibility layer added to following directive to rsyslog.conf: MarkMessagePeriod 1200
rsyslogd: Warning: backward compatibility layer added to following directive to rsyslog.conf: ModLoad imuxsock
rsyslogd: End of config validation run. Bye.
So, it looks like I have to add -c5 as the first syslogd option.
The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to do this. Can anyone help please?

Suggestion for Web-Based IRC Client |

I have found a nicer themed IRC client that you may want to look into. The QwebIRC client looks really dated and I thought that this might help to make IRC a little more user friendly to use. Also: No Captcha Phrase Required to Enter! Makes it easier on the visually impaired. This is Free and Open Source, fully coded and scripted in JavaScript. No Adobe Flash Used! It is called Kiwi IRC.
Their main site is here: https://kiwiirc.com/.
They also have a GitHub page if you want to look at that here: https://github.com/prawnsalad/KiwiIRC.
Lastly, here is a link I set up for you to directly connect to chat.freenode.net, port 6667, on channel #linuxlite. Nickname is left blank for user to choose.
https://kiwiirc.com/client/chat.freenode...ocommunity.
If you would like to setup another link to directly connect to a network, it is as simple as changing the URL to match the IRC server and channel.
IRC Server Channel Name
(no # number sign prefix before the channel name)
Substitute the IRC Server (if needed) and then the "channel_name" to the respective IRC channel to directly connect to (do not put a # number sign prefix on the channel name). I added dashes in the link so that it isn't clickable. Copy and Paste the URL without the dashes and substitute the appropriate information.
That is really it! Hope this helps others get support on IRC instead of having to get support to use IRC!
Update: Since the #linuxlite IRC channel closed down recently, I updated the link to instead connect to the #linuxdistrocommunity.
