Wink  Re-generate my Open PGP keys for Ubuntu One Digital Signature.
I have gnupg 2.2.4-1ubuntu1 2 for openPGP keys It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. This package contains the full suite of GnuPG tools.

  Question for Jerry
Posted by: LiteBerry - 07-13-2019, 03:43 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (1)

Hi Jerry,
I was wondering if it's ok for me to sell a custom built computer with Linux Lite pre-installed locally.
I would donate every time I do it but don't want to violate a license.

First time user ; No Wi-Fi Connectivity
Posted by: Kujo - 07-12-2019, 07:32 PM - Forum: Network - Replies (9)

Hey all, I installed 4.4 (first time Linux user, new to forum etiquette as well, so correct me as needed Big Grin) onto my Lenovo Ideapad S145 and I can't find any networks on Wi-Fi. My only option at the moment is the tethering hotspot on my phone. When I try to install drivers it says there are no additional drivers , and I can't find any way to interact with or install proprietary drivers.
In the BIOS menus I switched from UEFI to Legacy so I don't even have the option to turn off Secure Boot ( When I switch to UEFI with Secure Boot turned off I get an error basically saying there's nothing to boot).

Trying to figure out what I should try next. If I'm leaving out any info I'll gladly provide, just may need some help with pulling it up for you!

Thanks in advance!

  First Time Linux User here

How's it going all! It's been a while since I've interacted with a forum in general, and certainly my first time here. I just installed Linux Lite 4.4 the other day and it's my first foray into Linux overall. Already ran into a few snags so you'll see me in the help pages for sure. Looking forward to getting the hang of things and meeting y'all.

  For Educational Purposes
Posted by: bitsnpcs - 07-12-2019, 12:15 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

I post here some educational information that is 100% legal where I am posting this from, I have changed only banned words to the words used under the rules to describe those words, all disagreement or clarifications should be sent to either the BBC Religions, or the United Nations -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/rastafari/customs/customs_1.shtml

BBC Religions Quote -
"Drugs (ref:Linux Lite)" is regarded as a herb of religious significance. It is used in Rastafari reasoning sessions, which are communal meetings involving meditation.

Rastafarians are unlikely to refer to the substance as "Drugs (ref:Linux Lite)"; they usually describe it as the wisdom weed or the holy herb. The latter name is used because Rastafarians believe that "Drugs (ref:Linux Lite)" use is sacred, following biblical texts justifying its use:

He causeth the grass for the cattle, and herb for the services of man. - Psalm 104:14

...thou shalt eat the herb of the field. - Genesis 3.18

...eat every herb of the land. - Exodus 10:12

Better is a dinner of herb where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. - Proverbs 15:17

The use of "Drugs (ref:Linux Lite)" is a highly ritualised act, and before it is used a prayer is uttered by all:

"Glory be to the father and to the maker of creation. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be World without end: Jah Rastafari: Eternal God Selassie I."

The "Drugs (ref:Linux Lite)" is rolled into a cigarette or placed into a chillum pipe. When smoked it is inhaled deeply, then held, as the devotee enters into a trance-like state.

United Nations Quote - no words have been replaced or omitted copy/paste quotes.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights -

"The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages."

"Article 2.
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty."

"Article 18.
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

"Article 19.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."

Linux Lite makes other distros look bad :)
Posted by: LiteBerry - 07-09-2019, 10:51 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (1)

I've tried about a thousand other distros, most recently OpenSuse and Suse - but Linux Lite makes all the other distro look bad Smile!
Seriously, well done developers. And i'm humming along with 4.4 on a new bigger hard drive. Love the icons.

  CD-DVD not working
Posted by: gfric90 - 07-09-2019, 06:24 AM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (3)

Hi, I'm new to both linux and linux lite, I've been trying to read a DVD but VLC keeps showing this message:

Code:
VLC media player 3.0.4 Vetinari (revision 3.0.4-0-gf615db6332)
[000055b6ce684570] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
qt5ct: using qt5ct plugin
qt5ct: D-Bus global menu: no
qt5ct: D-Bus system tray: no
[00007fc1700015f0] filesystem stream error: cannot open file /home/ricardo/dvd (No such file or directory)

So I read some of the post down here and execute the inxi -d command and the output was the following:

Code:
Drives:    HDD Total Size: 500.1GB (3.6% used)
           ID-1: /dev/sda model: TOSHIBA_MK5076GS size: 500.1GB
           Optical-1: /dev/sr0 model: hp CDDVDW TS-L633R
           dev-links: cdrom,cdrw,dvd,dvdrw
           Features: speed: 24x multisession: yes
audio: yes dvd: yes rw: cd-r,cd-rw,dvd-r,dvd-ram

and the wodim --devices command says the following:

Code:
wodim: No such file or directory.
Cannot open SCSI driver!
For possible targets try 'wodim --devices' or 'wodim -scanbus'.
For possible transport specifiers try 'wodim dev=help'.
For IDE/ATAPI devices configuration, see the file README.ATAPI.setup from
the wodim documentation.

also run the wodim -checkdrive:

Code:
Device was not specified. Trying to find an appropriate drive...
Detected CD-R drive: /dev/cdrw
Using /dev/cdrom of unknown capabilities
Device type    : Removable CD-ROM
Version        : 5
Response Format: 2
Capabilities   :
Vendor_info    : 'hp      '
Identification : 'CDDVDW TS-L633R '
Revision       : '0400'
Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-R/DVD-RW.
wodim: Cannot load media with this drive!
wodim: Try to load media by hand.
Using generic SCSI-3/mmc   CD-R/CD-RW driver (mmc_cdr).
Driver flags   : MMC-3 SWABAUDIO BURNFREE
Supported modes: TAO PACKET SAO SAO/R96P SAO/R96R RAW/R16 RAW/R96P RAW/R96R

I don't really know how to access directly by hand to the device or solve this issue, everything else is working fine, i have the "mount" option checked in the settings manager, i also tried installing the Restricted Extras.

Final output, i promise, this time was sudo lshw -C disk :

Code:
*-cdrom
       description: DVD-RAM writer
       product: CDDVDW TS-L633R
       vendor: hp
       physical id: 0.0.0
       bus info: scsi@1:0.0.0
       logical name: /dev/cdrom
       logical name: /dev/cdrw
       logical name: /dev/dvd
       logical name: /dev/dvdrw
       logical name: /dev/sr0
       version: 0400
       capabilities: removable audio cd-r cd-rw dvd dvd-r dvd-ram
       configuration: ansiversion=5 status=open
So, thanks in advance for your patience and hope i can solve this.
