Hello,
I did install Visual C++ 2015 redistributable 64 bit
under Wine and linux Lite...
I can see/find normally all programs as they show
an icon on the desktop or find them under the C
virtual disk and the Windows Wine... program files...
But Visual C++ does not show any icon and cannot
be found anywhere under the Wine programs...
but it is there as when I take "remove" programs
from wine... there i can see it with all the other
installed programs...
How and where can I find my Visual C++ ???
Thank you very much
Greetings,
Fred

How to make auto start script to mount NAS drive?

Need to make a start up item in session and start up to mount my two NAS drives.
They mount manually like this:
I did the following to manually mount drive, and they mount and show on the desktop;
Code: sudo mkdir /media/NAS1
sudo mkdir /media/NAS2
then in fstab;
Code: //192.168.1.8/Download /media/NAS1 cifs username=un,password=pw,nounix,auto,user,uid=1000 0 0
//192.168.1.9/Download /media/NAS2 cifs username=un,password=pw,nounix,auto,user,uid=1000 0 0
but I still have to do this after boot for them to mount;
Code: sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.9/Download /media/NAS2 -o username=un,password=pw,nounix,uid=1000
sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.8/Download /media/NAS1 -o username=un,password=pw,nounix,uid=1000
How can I make a make a start up script or change fstab for them to auto mount?

I downloaded Linux Lite about a week ago based on some articles I read. I was looking for a distro that was based on ubuntu, xfce default de and had an upgrade procedure in place that was simple. I do not have the time anymore to chase down solutions to the myriad of Linux problems that I've experienced in the past with other distros.
Linux Lite is all that I was looking for and more. Beautiful distro and it fully worked out of the box as I only had minimal customizing when install was done. It's easy to see why LL is ranked #21 on Distrowatch. My prediction is it will climb much higher.
Thanks devs. Amazing os!

32- or 64- bits versions with 2Go ram?

Hello, I was told it is advisable to use 32-bits versions of program when someone has a machine with 2 Go RAM even if the machine is 64-bits. Does that apply to linuxlite too? Should I put the firefox 32-bits version? In 64-bits, which is the one I am using now, it is not that slow, but just asking.

Do linuxlite have default image software that have function to resize image ?
I know GIMP can do it. But it is not light software (GIMP ~ Photoshop)
Like in windows, it has paint.
In linuxlite, i open image viewer but not found function to resize.
Does image viewer has function to resize?
If no, is there a light image software to resize image?

Menu Gone

I was maybe going to change the icon for the menu so I opened properties (or whatever it was) and clicked on the leaf icon which (i think) would just open the folder it was in but it stalled and then crashed. I tried it again and it crashed and something else came up saying the menu would close or something.
Then it was gone, both the icon and the title
I restarted and it is still gone
I did nothing but click on the icon in properties
How do I get it back?
Thanks

disable auto-creation of .bak files when renaming in Thunar

Hi all,
I'd like to be able to disable the auto-creation of .bak files. I understand to have .bak files automatically created is a good thing, but I don't want this feature, especially when I am renaming a video file and have to wait for Thunar to backup the large file size before I end up deleting it in my home folder.

Before I begin, I want to add a little about me. Been trying to get into linux OS's for just about a week and half now, 2 different older machines, and have to say, almost everything is fine with each install, ubunu/lubuntu/LM Zorin, puppy/peppermint...just 2 area of concern to my keeping me from 100% commitment. The sound and GPU stuff. Im 52, have an A+ Cert which don't mean much anymore, too familiar with Windows...but hands down the responsiveness to just moving around the desktop and even surfing and video watching, (w/o a dedicated gpu and no sound), on those older systems tells me this is where I need to move. I am 100% noob to this so I may ask dumb questions but really want to understand how to fix these systems up myself, later on. for instance , I have seen where the ALC880 drivers for sound are fixed up for several different combinations of builds, yet, I have no clue which one to try an install. I do not know how to find what DKP version, code name, or series, or even what build means. and using the terminal is 100% alien tome atm.SO this all being said, I will gratefully accept help, learn it, and do my best to pass it along and solve others issues. And promote Open Source transitions with family and others along the way!
Ok my current issue to solve. No Sound from back jacks or even front HS jacks and GPU not being fully used. I am not sure what to post or even use to post next.
