First off this may just be me...

I was very frustrated trying to sign up for the forums.  I am visually impaired and I could not read some of the captcha pictures, so I'd request a new image.  When I requested a new image the whole page refreshed and it took me back to the agreement page.  So I clicked on it and now all my information that I'd entered previously was gone.  It took me a few times to find a captcha image that I could read and get through the sign up process.

Sorry, for the lengthy intro., is there a way to make the captcha refresh only, and not the whole deal?  Again, this probably only me, or a victim of my settings in my browser that allow me to 1/2 way see images and text on the web.

Thanks again for the great OS!  Love it -- it saved me from a "broken" debian machine.

  After Reading About Updates
Posted by: v-grimalkin - 05-07-2019, 09:16 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (2)

Having just read a few comments about update errors, I would like to know if Google Chrome is required in order to perform software and security updates to Linux-Lite 4.4 before I install the os to my pc notebook.

I try to avoid anything Google as much as possible (ha, ha), so I refuse to have their browser on my Acer.  Will someone please clarify this issue for me?

Thanks.

i have that error triying to install calibre !
Posted by: themythtoon - 05-07-2019, 03:33 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (1)

that is a terminal copy paste:

apt-get install caliber
Reading list of packages ... Done
Creating dependency tree
Reading the status information ... Done
Do not can instal some pack. This may mean that
you asked for an impossible situation or, if you are using the distribution
unstable, that some necessary packages have not yet been created or are
They have taken out of «Incoming».
The following information can help resolve the situation:

The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies:
caliber: It depends: python-cherrypy3 (> = 3.1.1) but it is not installable
It depends: python-dateutil but it is not installable
It depends: python-msgpack but it is not installable
It depends: python-pyparsing but it is not installable
It depends: python-routes but it is not installable
E: Problems could not be corrected, you have retained broken packages.

Installation of LInux Lite 3.8 stalls midway through Preparing to install Linux
Posted by: Pat2912 - 05-07-2019, 03:32 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (4)

Hi,
I'm new to Linux so hope I'm in the right place for advice.

I have an old - circa 2002 - Dell Optiplex GX50 with Windows XP Professional which I'm trying to load Linux Lite 3.8 on to.

I've managed to boot into the downloaded ISO and moving forward with the install.

I get to the desktop and click through on the Install Linux Lite icon

I now progress as far as the Install screen,
* Choose my language - Ccntinue to the next screen where I'm
* Offered options to download updates whilst installing Linux and also to install third party software - * I leave both blank and click Continue

Now the problem emerges - a progress wheel appears and appears to show activity but nothing happens - I've let the install programme continue running overnight but no success - the wheel keeps turning but goes nowhere.

This is now the third time my progress has halted at this stage.

I would welcome any and all advice, guidance and helpful hints.

Pat

LL 4.4 on Alienware 13 R2 and some things not working correctly
Posted by: icedigger - 05-07-2019, 12:11 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (4)

I have a Alienware 13 R2 w/OLED screen, i7 6500u, 16GB DDR3, Intel HD 520, NVidia GTX 965M, Killer E2400 NIC, Killer 1535 Wifi/BT, and 2x M.2 NVME drives

It is running LL 4.4

The issues I have are the screen brightness I can't turn down.

The touchpad gets really strange as it jumps and freezes.

The battery time lasts under 2hrs but while in windows lasts almost 6-7hrs.

Attached system report.

Bugs in the Application Menu, Icon is not symmetrical.
Posted by: fiik346 - 05-07-2019, 07:51 AM - Forum: Security & Bug Fixes - Replies (1)

Maybe this is a trivial problem, but still I feel a little disturbed. When opening the application menu there are many choices but there is a slight difference when I am on the Settings tab, the icon is not like the other icons. Please consider.

Clueless New (possibly) User says "Hey"
Posted by: v-grimalkin - 05-06-2019, 10:42 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (4)

Hopefully, Linux Lite 4.4 will save another aging pc laptop.  Downloaded 4.4 yesterday and tested from a usb stick, and I really love what I saw ... except my keyboard was acting up. (See post under "Bugs")

If there is a solution (already found one suggestion), I will avoid having to contribute more money to Microsoft or those extremely over-priced Apples.  Hail, Eris!

how i enable auto screen rotation/ auto screen orientacion on my linux lite ?
Posted by: themythtoon - 05-06-2019, 10:25 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

hey guys! i have a Lenovo yoga 520 (i leave my system report too if you want to check more about my hardware on the next link)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JHMEPd...2vmsAN14FV

(to see the file you just have to open it with google Editey (is free) or just download it and then open by your pc)

well it comes with windows 10, and in windows 10 i had a auto screen rotation! but of course i stall the best gnu/Linux  o.s; Linux lite uwu.

and it works like all ways awesome!

but my screen rotation not, i don't know if Linux lite even have that option!

i saw on Ubuntu and Ubuntu have screen rotation (is close to the shut down button) so if Ubuntu have screen rotation, Windows have screen rotation, Linux lite don't have it ?

or just Linux lite don't read my rotation sensor ?

because windows read it, and it works perfect on it!

every other sensor on my Linux lite works fine! temperature, touch pad, pen sensor, quick bottoms like screen volume mute fly mode works fine too.

i just need and want my auto rotation sensor working on my Linux lite please a help  !! Big Grin ;D

Keyboard error requiring Fn key during test run
Posted by: v-grimalkin - 05-06-2019, 09:51 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (15)

Downloaded Linux Lite 4.4 and ran test to make sure my old Acer Aspire 1 laptop/notebook could handle the os.  Looks great, but when I tried typing, I found that half the keyboard spits numbers instead of letters.  I determined I could get letters by pressing Fn key before the problem keys, but I want to find out if this bug is fixable before I install on my pc.

My notebook is 64 bit with 1 GB memory and Intel Atom CPU N570 @1.66 GHz x 2.  Unfortunately, the bios have never been updated, since Windows 7 never helped me do so, and now all I have is Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3.

This may not truly be a "bug", then, but a failure on the part of a tired old Acer.  If so, I may have to resort to buying a new laptop.  :-[
